Thanks for the offer but I currently cannot let more people access my server. I am way over my net quota (downloaded too many solaris 10 iso images) so all my net traffic is now crawling like a snail

At the moment, the biggest challenge would be to download the cramfs images. Installattion only takes a few seconds and I am pretty sure I ironed out all the bugs already.

The current xqt application cramfs comes with the following pre-installed and I have tested them to be working fine

abiword 2.0
dillo 0.8
ethereal 0.10.2
firefox 0.9
gimp 1.2.5
minimo 1.6
sylpheed 0.9.99
thunderbird 0.6
xchat 2.0.5
xmms 1.2.10

hopefully this mix has enough useful applications to choose from

i have used MEANIE packages and refered to his webpages so THANKS VERY MUCH MEANIE

i have also uncompressed the openoffice cramfs to make it faster but loading remain long about 4minutes to load openoffice; 1mn for xqt and 1 minurte for debian any way when it is loaded every thing is ok

Now i am waiting the xqt and xqt-packages cramfs release

MEANIE could you please add two packages which i think are intresting:

-Grisbi: which is very powerful account manager running under mutliplatforms
ipk exists for openzaurus and pdaxrom I tested both under cacko and XQT but it doesnot work

-Gqview: is also a good image viewer ipk exists for pdaxrom but it dosn't work under xqt

I got both gqview and grisbi working under xqt

now my problem is that my xqt-apps.cramfs is way too big (almost 50MB) so I am thinking of dividing it up into smaller logical parts, ie

xqt-apps-mozilla.cramfs containing firefox and thunderbird
xqt-apps-office.cramfs containing abiword grisbi gnumeric sylpheed and dillo
xqt-apps-multimedia.cramfs xmms gimp gqview

simply download and place all files into same directory anywhere you wish where you have plenty of space and then

that's it.

The xqt-gtk-jumbo.cramfs contains the xqt-gtk-jumbo package which is required unless you already have the full xqt jumbo ipk package installed already

The xqt-apps.cramfs currently contains:
abiword 2.0
dillo 0.8
ethereal 0.10.2
firefox 0.9
gimp 1.2.5
minimo 1.6
sylpheed 0.9.99
thunderbird 0.6
xchat 2.0.5
xmms 1.2.10

which makes it almost 50MB in size

what I am planning to do is to split it up into smaller chunks and add more applications to it.

so my current thinking is

xqt-gtk-jumbo.cramfs (no changes needed)

xqt-mozilla (containing firefox and thunderbird - they use about 20MB which is almost half of the xqt-apps)

java.cramfs (just the blackbox 1.3.1 jre for starters, I will add some working java apps to it in later revisions)

xqt-apps.cramfs (all the previous apps excluding thunderbird and firefox and some additional ones such as gqview and grisbi)

This would come to a rough total of 80MB of compressed applications. This would never had fit into the flash.

on another note to freebird, the best i could get on my 3100 was with everything installed to a 4GB CF card formatted as ext2 and uncompressed openoffice cramfs and it loaded xqt and debian in less than a minute, about 42 seconds and openoffice loaded in 1 minute and 53 seconds.

thanks bam!!! but one problem

if i download it through internet explorer, i get an error corrupt file

if i just click on firefox, it opens file up and you see a bunch of code.

if i right click and download it, it downloads it to my pc but.... its okay..

I don't know if it is because of that, but the menu in abiword are very very strange (squares with little circle).

I have downloaded the files from bam - multiple times, both to my PC and directly to the C3100.

In all cases, when I try to expand the install file ( both on PC and on the Z) I get a message stating, that the file is corrupt.

Any help would be welcome...
