Jumbo Xqt Package
« Reply #90 on: July 20, 2005, 07:26:41 pm »
Thanks again Meanie.

Yes it shows error messages like you said.

I will remove, and reinstall the debian file from the web. Perhaps with the heavy traffic I
was unable to download completely. I tried lots of times this morning before I finally was able to download.

Could I also download from somewhere else? Or should I continue to download it from the site on this thread?

Thanks.

Ok, downloaded debian file again and reinstalled.

Worked perfectly. Thanks meanie for all your hardwork. It looks awesome. I payed around with your instructions before the jumbo pack and I know how much time it takes to install and reinstall - and still not get it to work. So thanks again, you have done all of us newbies a GREAT HELP.

Thanks chuckster for your fast reply as well.

hi guys

i installed xqt and it installed flawlessley but when i look into the xlauncher file in the bin, it says to look for files in hdd3 but i am force installing into the card which is the /mnt/card

is there anything wrong with this picture?  i am a c1000 user.

when in installed the debian, the first time, it could not create simlink so i edited the installer sh file and replaced all /hdd3 with /mnt/card and it installed flawlessly with no errors but i still cant launch it from xlauncher or anything.  any ideas?

one last thing

after installing the xqt, it was reffering to a file which i did not have and asked me to please install them.  this is on a zaurus c1000 fresh.  nothing installed.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=88987\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

there is a post earlier describing the change required for xlauncher.
this is going to be fixed with an updated install script as well.

what file did it refer to?

An updated debian install script (version 0.3.5) is available now from
http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/jum...ian-install.zip

this one will allow you to install to other location (without needing you to edit the script and it will also update xlauncher)

This is great, Meanie!

Also, thanks to Chuckster for hosting the files!

However, first time I downloaded the 'debian-jumbo-v18-b01' file it was 149MB in size. Then redownloaded it and it is 166MB in size. Did the check on the file and got some error messages..

Would be great to know how large the downloaded file should be?

Thanks,

Mark

Hello,

I'm getting lots of error while starting Abiword, all related to xpm support or gtkiconfactory, for instance:

"(abiword:433) GdkPixbuf-Warning **: Can not open pixbuf loader module file
'/opt/QtPalmtop/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders': no such file or dir

Error loading XPM image loader imagetype 'xpm' is not supported"

Any clue whats going wrong and how to fix?

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

The page does have the sizes of the packages (just to the right of the download link.) Here they are for reference:

xqt-gtk-jumbopack_0.4.3-0.6_arm.zip 14.8Mb
xqt-debian-install.zip 2.2K
zaurus-debian-doc-v18.tar.gz 13.1Mb
zaurus-debian-jumbo-v18-b01.tar.gz 94.5Mb
zaurus-debian-openoffice114.tar.gz 77.7Mb
firefox_0.9-2_arm.zip 7.1Mb

It sounds like your browser was trying to uncompress the file as it downloaded since you got more than 94.5Mb.  You might try using "wget" (either from Linux or the Cygwin version for Windows) to download the files. I've had more success in the past downloading large files with it than using a browser...

Thanks for the info, chuckster!

Actually, I went ahead and downloaded debian-jumbo file again this morning. This time it downloaded as a 94.5MB file!... go figure....

FWIW, I'm using Safari as browser on my desktop Mac....

Thanks again for hosting files!

Ok, I have another minor problem.

The / key prints a letter d on the terminal window. If I do shift plus / it closes the terminal.

How do I fix this?

Thanks again/

I'm trying to install this onto my poodle (5600), so I don't know if it's even possible. I've successfully installed & configred the package, but I get the following errors:

Code: [Select]
[zaurus@grond]<~/Install_Files/watapon/xqt>$ sudo ipkg -d card install xqt-gtk-jumbopack_0.4.3-0.6_arm.ipk

X/Qt installed sucessfully.
Done.
After using ipkg-link successfully & restarting qtopia, I have the tab & all the icons, but nothing happens when I hit the startx icon, so I started some command line testing & edited the startx-wrapper, replacing the hdd3 references to point to the ext2 partition of my sd card (where the package is installed). It still failed after running the startx script.

So I edited the startx script to properly assign the hostname (the hostname command is linked to busybox in my rom which doesn't recognoze the '-f' switch). Finally it got the the end but failed finding librarys:

Code: [Select]

I found a libXmuu.so.1.0 library linked under /opt/QtPalmtop/libs, so I linked that to ibXmuu.so.1, but still the same error. I'm not a unix programmer, so I'm not sure where xinit & xauth are looking for libs, but all the other *X* libs are in that same directory, so I can't be far off .

Any helpful tips? Am I just missing a package?
Thanks in advance
