This information has little weight when we don\'t know who you are?

Sharp is in the process of moving from an expensive co-location service to something more cost-effective. US management does see the value in having the developer site.

And ironically they don\'t see the value in good customer relations. They hope to save money on web hosting, yet are prepared to lose what little goodwill they still have.
I can understand Sharp having to bring the web site down. What I can\'t understand is why they just can\'t be bothered to advise their supporters before hand!

and that comes from ???

and if this is something someone from Sharp (or connected to Sharp) wants to say to the developer community, how about saying something officially and showing that \"US management does see the value in having the developer site\" in a more open transparent way ?

I saw the thread here and talked with Sharp. They did convey that they are moving the site and they plan to have it back up within 30 days. (Don\'t shoot the messenger. ) Speaking for myself, I hope they settle on something that will allow them to have better uptime than they have had recently.

Just sounds funny, They should leave the old site up, get the new site going, then redirect the address to the correct IP when new site is up and running, 24 hours max to propogate? Time must have slipped up on them.

Last I saw, the old site is still up, but I\'m not sure if any new postings would be transferred to the new server.

Did you change your host file to point you to the old IP (66.180.235.229)?

Hi Everyone,

I think it\'s best if you no longer rely on the Zaurus DevNet site.  I wouldn\'t recommend editing your host file to point to the old server because it may never come back online again.  The DevNet is no longer a priority for Sharp.  While I was there I tried to keep you all informed because I enjoyed the community, NOT because it was my job responsibility or that my boss told me to.   They\'re focusing on other areas and the Z team is extremely thin.

The site may come back in some form or another - possibly a stripped down version with just developer documentation.  But I highly doubt it will be a community.

Ok - so to protect myself I\'m going to include the below disclaimer:

**** The above statements do not reflect the opinions of Sharp or its management.   These events or statements are fictitious. Any similarity to any person living or dead is merely coincidental  ****

Hi Spencer,

Nice to see you, how are you getting along?

Does anyone have a backup of the data in the site. There\'s so much there (not to mention on the zauruszone forum which is also gone) and it would be a shame for it to all vanish Great Library of Alexandria style.

Likewise I must add my greetings to spencer it has been a while!

Si! I believe someone on this board said that the other board was mirrored somewhere so that info is probably safe... seems ashamed to lose that source of Information, but this seems like a nice place too!

Be Well

well as Spencer suggested, I have joined up to the ZUG.  The question is how do we move the community over here and make this the official community?

I\'m very sad to hear the direction that Sharp seems to have taken. This community have been such a great one.

If there are something I can add (host) to my web site, than please tell me. I hope that this forum will be the future one, so that we don\'t have to depend on Sharp in the future.
