Wifi Network Broken - Oz/opie 3.5.3 On Sl6000-l
« on: July 05, 2005, 12:48:11 am »
The graphicel network configuration utility that is part of OZ/Opie 3.5.3 is broken on the SL-6000L. I have tested the utility with the built-in wifi (wlan0) and cannot successfully configure it.

On occasion the settings for an open AP (unencrypted) will successfully control, but configuring for WEP is a lost cause.

Does anyone have a replacement for this utility? Can someone from the Opie team look into this?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I did search the board, found several references to older versions of OZ/Opie (3.5.2 or earlier), and some manual workarounds for the problem. Given that 3.5.3 came out around mid-April 2005, a lot of the information on the board pertaining to this issue is *unfortunately* obsolete.

I have not seen any workarounds or fixes for the current OZ/Opie 3.5.3, nor have I seen anyone mentioning a fixed or updated version of the networking configuration utili\ty.

Please... is there a recent and working version out there... ? If someone with 3.5.3 has performed a workaround, could they post their successes here?

Many thanks!

Nope sorry.  I actually haven't seen a gui wireless app work except for guylhem's.  It only works on his rom.  The yellow lines are there for a while I'm afraid.  I think it has something to do with incomplete video drivers.

This may help.  I got my D-Link CF-660 working using the wlan0 device using WEP by converting the ascii key to hex (with no preface 0X, just two digits per character).  I was able to figure this out based on a reference to using the hex characters in old OPIE builds and the reference above stating that controlling the devices in the console may work.  When I tried controlling the device in the console the script barked about my key I had input as characters (said it was an invalid parameter).  I have a SL5500, but I hope this helps.
