Smartmovie

Hi,
did someone try Smartmovie for the Sharp Zaurus?
Smartmovie Web page

It is widely used on Symbian Smartphones with apparently good success.

How does it work in "formatting" videos for the Z and as a player?

Thanks,
regards,
Adalberto

Now why anyone would want to use this on the Z is beyond me, and I doubt you'll find someone here who does (then again, I might be wrong ...) -- there are quite a few Open Source alternatives for bringing Video to the Z, and most people are in fact using those.

Best regards,
Chris.

Maybe because they used it on their phones and liked it
Maybe because they wanted to test it
Maybe it is a good and easy to use software working on multiple platforms...

I do not know; I was looking for a software for my 7710 and found that smartmovie works for the Z too.
Considering that there are some other shareware players for the Z and that some people use them, I was just wondering if someone gave a try to this one too. To know the pros and cons, apart from the cost

:-)

Besides, given that there aren't many companies still supporting the Z, i think it is alsways a good thing to see someone doing it. I do not know how many here were aware of this either

Regards,
Adalberto

I have tried smartmovie on my SL-6000L (original sharp rom) and it did not work as nicely as mplayer with kino2 frontend. I have also tried tkvideo and doctor z, which also did not work as well as mplayer/kino2.

You might be wondering why I'm trying these other video player since mplayer seems to be the best. This is because the *best* video playback I've gotten so far, is not quite as fluid as it was on my 5500. Playback is mildly choppy, and pixelates a little. So help me, playback was better on my 5500! I believe it is because of the 640x480 resolution not being fully supported yet, as well as not yet having the driver that supports hardware video acceleration. I'm anxiously awaiting kino2 version 0.4.3.

EDIT: by the way if you are interested in tkcvideo, check here:
