well, I had a look at the jabp ipk file and noticed some obvious errors which prevents it from working properly without some post install hacking so I rebuilt it and now it will just work once installed.
Does this IPK only work on clamshells, or will it also work on the 55xx range?  Either way, someone should email this to Malcolm so he can add it to his website!

Thanks for fixing it Meanie

- Thanks Meanie!  I snagged it and will install it once I get the transfer done.
- ZMoney is just too simplistic for my taste, although it works and supports multiple acounts, which is a nice feature.

Can you let us know what to do to get JABP working or make the new IPK file available.

- Meanie's ipk wouldn't run for me, so I did some poking of my own, and Cacko's evm wrapper for cvm doesn't work with JABP.  I commented all of /home/QtPalmtop/bin/runjabp out except for the line that invokes cvm, since that's what I'm using, which is personal-java-somesuch on the Cacko feed.  Oh.  And put "$QPEDIR/j2me/bin/" before the "cvm", or stick that in your path so it can find it.  Oh.  And I didn't comment out the line where it changes to the jabp directory, either.  (drool)  Wonder what else I forgot?

- After I did that, it ran "fine".  It's a bit flakey ... it forces you to go through some dialogs, which aren't instrusive or anything, but there's no "back" button, and no way to cancel the dialogs.  You have to kill cvm to get out of it, and this launches about ten instances of cvm.  Not a show-stopper, but not terribly polished.
- The dialogs also tend to spaz.  Drop-downs tend to either make the dialogs freak (mis-paint) or one time a dialog went into an infinite loop ... looked like it was scrolling, but it was hard to tell.  That wasn't pretty.  (smirk)
- These are the configuration dialogs.  If they got nuts from time to time it's not the end of the world.  I'm going to play with it some more and see if other dialogs wonk out like this.  If so, it's toast (shrug)...

hmm, i only tested it with jeode since i remember that personal profile was a bit buggy and i haven't used it since i tried it many moons ago.
i'll see if i can dig up an ipk for cvm and compare how it runs jabp vs evm.

also updated jabp ipk file so hopefully it can now automatically run with either evm or cvm

FYI . . . grisbi works fine [on a 3100] under XQT using meanie's XQT cramfs setup (files and install script on The Grinder website). It has the usual slow XQT startup, but works well.

It would be near ideal if I could figure out how to change the date format from D/M/Y to something else -- since that is not the usual format for where I live.

- Really?  I've had zero luck with that guy.  I'll have to give it another go ... I haven't re-installed X/Qt since flashing Cacko full.  If'n I have issues I'll do console capture and stick it in here, 'cause numerous people have said it works, but I've never seen it.  Implies I'm doin' something wrong, that...

If you mean grisbi:

In the Menu go to Edit --> Preferences

Then under "Resources - Currencies", you need to add USD to the known currencies.

Once you've done that you then can change the "Display - Totals currencies" to use "United States Dollar ($)"

When adding a transaction, there is a pull down for choosing currency which should be euros or USD.

Grisbi doesn't seem to have split-transactions (I can live without), and the before-mentioned European date format -- but otherwise it seems pretty good so far.

Also, if you download a desktop version (windows or linux) and put your grisbi data file in a folder accessible to the desktop when the Z is in USB-storage mode, you can edit on a bigger screen with desktop speed.

Hi

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

http://www.grisbi.org/

There is a Zaurus ipk available on the page though it didn't work for me (Sharp rom)
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=97430\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

grisbi is a gtk2 app, so it definitely cannot run in Sharp's Qtopia/Qte env. maybe it is pdaXrom or OpenZaurus 's ipk

Did anyone have a look at Zaif?
It was mentioned in another thread, so I tested it shortly. Seems to have more than the basic features of zmoney, works well, looks nice (after adjusting font name and size) and can deal with every currency, as far as I can see.

Only two drawbacks:

It does not support decimals, only integer as amounts. So I'd have to enter amounts in cents rather than Euro. Or use only the Euro value and disregard the cents.

And: If it could only create printable reports...

Thank you for your work. Did you send the ipk with instructions to the autor?
I have one problem with JABP: It asks for the initial setup every time when it is started. Seems that the preferences are not saved. Do you know what's going wrong?
