(Sorry folks, haven't got the quoting mechanism to work right here despite reading help files, so using e-mail style quoting)

Zaurus memory gets overburdened...this was as true with Opera 5.0 as it is on 7.30, and I believe it is more a z thing (for both 2.38 and 3.10 ROMS) than specifically Opera. The memory issue is discussed in thread 'Opera browser crashes' (you'll likely need the hints there if you do significant browsing). Opera problems are also discussed in the Opera 7 thread here.
>Am suffering Opera 5.0 and need the advanced features that hopefully are in the later Opera versions (6.x and 7.x).
Bet you'll dig the bookmark folders and ability to toggle viewing schemes to whatever is appropriate. I find it handy to be able to easily switch between columnar and full page (traditional) display modes.
I crash my Z with 7.30 more than on 5.0 because I can go more places with it, and create more memory problems, but am learning workarounds. At least 7.30 is less likely to keep downloading data from the web that it has no room for. I think 5.0 used to just keep downloading anyhow and corrupt whatever application files were open, whereas 7.30 is more likely to shut down and/or let me exit.
>If I find anything constructive on Zepo I'll share it.
<update> Zepo is basically a lean and mean newsreader, allowing you to D/L news, then later read the data without being connected. Also, support is rather thin and hasn't been upgraded in a while. Don't think you want this unless you're really into news. HTH
So all you can download is news? We've got to fix Opera 7.30's tendency to do nasty things to the modem settings, I just haven't been able to find out how.

>>I hate the idea of going back to Opera 5.0 because there are so many nifty features in 7.30, but it screws up my modem settings even when I just use Opera offline.
<thoughts from sdjf>I'll bet it stores what it thinks are the modem processes and status somewhere hidden, on the assumption that no other application will change those settings, and maybe even writes over some config or status files without checking consistency with what happened since it last accessed the modem. That, I think, is an Opera bug if I'm right.
>>For example, when it crashes online, I find myself unable to disconnect from the web without rebooting! My screen just freezes up forever if I tap "Disconnect' on the modem popup menu.
>>Is there any way to disable forever Opera's access to my modem and modem settings?
<thoughts from sdjf>I know I'm not the only user with this particular problem. But, I don't think it will show up unless you try to both browse and do pop/smtp functions in the same online session, and don't notice whether you went online from inside or outside of Opera.
I also have to repeatedly press connect, and then abort, many times to get the modem to actually connect if I change to a different point of modem access (ie, access from within opera or outside of opera) than I used in my last session online. The modem indicator light goes on, and then flickers out, and nothing stands out in the logs to me other than 'connect script failed'.
This does not happen if I only use my ISP for pop/smtp, and never happened with opera 5.0, which didn't automatically call up my modem popup menu the way 7.30 does.
Argh, sdjf
