It seems that the attached xmodmaprc file works better than the default one on my C760.  I changed two lines:

keycode 69 = semicolon
keycode 71 = comma slash

You have to unzip and rename the xmodmaprc file so that it has a period in front of the name, such as:

mv /mnt/card/xmodmaprc /home/zaurus/.xmodmaprc

After I restarted XQt, the KeyHelper key mappings seemed to take over.

I haven't succeeded in finding out how to fix the resolution on a 5x00. All apps overflow the screen. Anybody has any ideas?

I know that X Windows is capable of displaying a large virtual screen that is tiled into smaller physical screens, but I do not know the details of which configuration files need to be modified to make that happen.

Here is the error message that I get when running the java-setup script on my C760 with Sharp ROM:

java applications configured and ready.
/home/root/usr/lib/jre/bin/armv5tel/native_threads/java: error while loading shared libraries: libBrokenLocale.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

The file is .fluxbox/init and the variable is called something like session.screen0.workspaces. It's set to four. Fluxbox is the default window manager in Meanie's XQt, and this setting provides four virtual desktops, that's fine. My problem is that because of the different resolution of the 5x00 screen part of each desktop is not visible and, as far as I know, I can't get to the invisible part by moving the mouse. When I launch an app, for example a terminal, part of it is off screen. I guess I could reduce the default size of each app, but this would be a pain after a while. The best solution would be to shrink everything to fit the screen but I don't know how to do that.

I know, Felipe, that some windows in fluxbox can be resized if you can get to one of the two bottom corners.

RXVT & xterm, for example, can be resized & repositioned and will stay that way on subsequent launchings.

Some apps seem to shrink their contents to fit the smaller size window  but some will not. Some apps (abiword comes to mind) can be sized & positioned by geometry statements, either in their own ini files or in the main fluxbox ini.

Some windows, like bochs, will not resize at all nor reposition on the next launch of the program, no matter what you do.

YMMV.

I got that in the past also, this is most probably because your links are not setup properly or your missing a library.
Go to www.users.on.net/_hluc/myZaurus/custom.html#java to check what you need, or just install the java.cramfs

Firefox won't start!

I have installed the jumbo package as well as mozilla, all from cramfs.

They are on a CF card.

I installed them using ./xqt-install.sh as su

But when I click on the firefox icon in XQt I got:
Unable to find this application 'runfirefox'. Please confirm the Installed media.

So I've tried:
su -
#xlauncher firefox

It's doing something, saying:
starting X and firefox - please wait a moment

But then I got a gray screen with an x in the middle that disapears after few seconds. Then nothing. Tried to reboot and do the same, no success neither.
Besides, when I click on startX, nothing happens.

I didn't find any explanation and what I understood from  Meanie web site is that the mozilla.cramfs should just need to be installed with xqt-install... Is there anything else I should do, and why is X not starting?

By the way, I have got a message mentionning that my zaurus has a /home partition of 4MB and that I was strongly advised to run ... something but couldn't remember what!

Sorry for this noobie type of questions...

Any help on this problems?

edit: I have cleaned-up everything (using xqt-cleanup) and reinstalled
xqt-gtk-jumbo.cramfs
xqt-apps.cramfs
xqt-mozilla.cramfs

Eveything seemed to install correctly, but in the XQt pane, I have no more icon for firefox. I have some from the apps, but they won't run neither, I have the same message (example if I try gnumeric): "Unable to find this application 'rungnumeric'. Please confirm the Installed media.

Meanie, or any good soul, would you have any idea?
