C3100 Shipped Should Be Here Soon :o)
« on: January 13, 2006, 08:55:06 pm »
I just got email that my C3100 should arrive to my place on Tue or Wed, it was shipped today!  I've been reading these forums everyday since early in December.
I'll stay with the Sharp ROM until I get the "feel" of my First Zaurus. (A totally different animal than my Palm Zire 72s). Once I understand more about it from actual use, I'll flash it to Cacko 1.23
Then, maybe later, I'll try pdaXrom.
I found the really inexpensive "6 in 1 GE USB cable kit" at Walgreens. It has the mini A, mini B, A Male, B Male, & A Female connections & 6 foot cable. It's got one more connector that's not shown or listed in the pics on the package, but it looks like a miniture 'B Male' It was $12.95, They are made in China, but General Electric has been around awhile, so I trust their products.

Has anyone managed to get Picsel Browser to work on a larger card than the 256MB one that it ships on? If it were on a 1GB card, I'd consider purchasing it, though it costs so much. $140.00 US. That was the last price I saw it listed as.

It's worth the wait Jon :-) I got my Zaurus (C1000) yesterday - and man, am I impressed!! Coming from a PPC and Palms, Linux is quite a different experience.

I flashed my Zaurus with Cacko 1.23 barely an hour after it showed up, and I'm a total noob when it comes to Linux.  Trust me on this: it sounds scary, but the procedure is fast, painless, and since you're going to do it anyway, you might as well get the Cacko upgrade straight away.
Zaurus C1000 Cacko 1.23
Last rebuild: jan. 28 2006
Total rebuilds: 5

Case: Nintendo DS bag
Memory: Sandisk Ultra II, 1 gig + ARCHOS Gmini 20 gig
WiFi: D-Link DCF-660W
Other: 3-port USB hub, Typhoon optical mouse

My C3100 just arrived!    I'm charging it now for the fiirst time...
I hope I didn't bump any important threads, but I just had to say I'm very pleased with the packaging from StreamlineCPUs.

Gotta run to Staples now and get a CF card reader. I already have an SD card reader for my Palm.

Got 'er flashed to cacko  also didn't get the windoze USB driver working, but that doesn't matter anyway. I can transfer files thru USB in "Storage mode". I'm gonna get a CF card reader anyway to transfer files to and from it.
What seems strange is this: I disabled "fast load" on all 4 PIM apps and my memory usage went up in "System info"

used went up
buffer went down
cached went up
Free went down

This thing is just amazing!

usb driver can be made to work with just installing 5600 software, copying \program files\sharp zaurus 2\intellisync folder to somewhere, uninstall 5600 software, install jp software, copy backup of intellisync folder and overwite \program files\sharp zaurus2\intellisync , set settings in z manager and when prompted for z driver use drivers  from jp cdrom
