Marcin,

how am I supposed to flash enlightement
(e-image-3.5.4-test5-c7x0.rootfs.img) ?

I tried renaming it to initrd.bin and using updater.sh and zImage.bin from test5 but I think the standard root partition isn't big enough! Need perhaps some resizing?

TIA

Ant

EDIT:
BTW bluetooth for my Socket CF Card Rev G (serial_cs driver) seems not working...

then use e-image-core which is smaller

currently e-image can be installed only on devices with 128M flash (c760/860/1000/3100) or spitz (c3100).

it's experimental

OK.  Some settings from GPE test-5 remained. I did remove and recreate /home and /home/root. Typical fault for OZ newbies...

Anyway after a while the login prompt kicks me off and I have to re-log as root...?Strange...

BTW I'm starting enlightenment with "Xfbdev". Is it the proper way?

TIA

hard to tell - please check openzaurus-devel@lists.sourceforge.net mailing list - there you will find creators of that image (I just built it and you got unofficial version

No it isn't. /etc/init.d/entrance (or /etc/init.d/login-manager) should launch a login manager.

Indeed, entrance should start automatically. And logging in as root is normal. e is an experimental image and doesn't have the "create a new user" stuff that GPE has. If entrance isn't starting up that's a bug. Please let us know if you see any errors on your screen in a bug report. And make sure to mention your machine and all.

Images running on my doggy SL-C860 (boxer).
updater.sh and kernel from HRW's test-5 (the one for OPIE/GPE).

After the first flash (without erasing old stuff from /home) I was under the impression that some files were missing. I saw entrance starting and exiting back to the prompt.
By poking around I could start enlightenment by Xfbdev

Than I realized I needed more space and cleaned the user partition.
Boys, I hate this step. Please add an option to the installer to wipe out all after flashing a new image (like pdaxrom installer).

This did the trick and after reboot enlightenment started automatically, and I was asked for calibrating the pointer on the screen.

But in both cases I've seen that if you exit "e" and just log in (only tried as root) the shell exits/dies and you are obliged to log in again.
When in "e" the problem disappears.

I cannot further help 'cause now I'm running GPE test5 and the e-image has been removed.

Cheers

I am surprised that with all the impatient waiting eagerly for the new OZ release, nobody posted the good news that is on the OZ website !! : OZ 3.5.4 tagged

Quote
I want to inform all of you that I tagged OpenZaurus 3.5.4 in .oz354fam083 branch.

What does it mean for you:

- if you are user then you will get OpenZaurus 3.5.4 soon (few days)
- if you are OE/OZ developer then you can start working on OZ 3.5.4.1

What was changed in OpenZaurus 3.5.4? List is too long to be even created but I want to note few things:

- OPIE 1.2.1 (with lot of hires fixes made after 1.2.1 release - mostly by me
- GPE 2.7 (also with some fixes which was done after 2.7 release)
- 2.4.18 kernels with APM fixes so no more suspend/resume problems
- WE18/WE19 in kernels so WPA should work out-of-box
- cleaned pcmcia configs so CF cards should work out-of-box too
- some of 802.11g CF cards probably will work
- Enlightenment DR 17 images (experimental)

Now we need to start build machine and after few days we will release it.

OpenZaurus 3.5.4 test program is closed now.

REMIND: Due to lot of problems with 2.4.20 on cxx00 machines we decided to not release 3.5.4 for those machines. It does not makes sense to release 3.5.4 with crappy cxx00 support and then lose again our reputation before some weeks later we could have 3.5.4.1 with proper cxx00 support.

I just can't wait to see it release ! Thanks Hrw MickeyL and all the OZ developpers for their great work

I would like to thank all of the people involved in this project ( I can not wait for it to be out for the c3000) I have donated already and I suggest if everyone really wants to show their thanks then donate to the developers so they can keep improving on a wonderful platform!
