Can Freeware Palm Progs Be Ported?
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:07:09 pm »
I used several searches, and when I just used the one word, "palm" I came up with about 50 pages. I wish there was a way to search within a search.
Anyway, is there any way to "convert" a freeware software that runs on a Palm into a linux executable? Most Palm soft is in a PRC file. One program in particular, which I would love to see work on a Zaurus is "PilotDB" It's small, fast and handles large databases really well.
http://pilot-db.sourceforge.net/
There is also another program I'm interested in, but am not sure if it could be "converted".

Thank you,
Jon

Look what they did here at 1src
http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?...=picsel+browser

A very long thread, but they managed to get this from a phone and made it work on a palm.
Takes a lot of fiddling, but once it's installed and accelerated, it works fantastically

I'm now using CSVview. I have to save my Excel files on my desktop to *.csv then they open in CSVview.

This might help in finding open source Palm OS apps.
