Wifi Card With Smallest Profile Like The Bt Card.
« on: February 26, 2006, 12:21:13 am »
I have the 660 which has a bulbous large protrusion which interferes with typing.

What is the wifi card that has the smallest profile and will work with Cacko 1.23?

Thanks,

Antikx

I have never heard of a CF WiFi card that is flush to the case like the Socket BT card. I bleieve the reason is that WiFi cards require/prefer an external antenna. I recall a thread or two about this exact question a whle back. See what a search gives ya.

I remember seeing small Sony WiFi card like you describe a few years back.
A friend hat it in his micro-Sony laptop (Japanese).  Probably was a PCMCIA card, though.

Aren't there cards with retractale antennas? So you can retrac the antenna when Wifi signal quality is well enough, so that it does not interfere with typing.
If Wifi signal quality gets worse, pop out the antenna.

If someone knows about such a card working with Caco 1.23b1, please post here, since I'd also be interested in such a card!

Thanks

I have not seen any posts about external antenna cards.  Most of what I've seen suggest that the socket wifi card has the best profile.  Compared to my old netgear, it is quite a difference.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

I just looked up the socket wifi card: looks slimmer than the 660.
Can anyone confirm that it works with Cacko 1.23?

Thanks for your help.
