Sd To Cf Adapter. Anyone Use These?
« on: March 01, 2006, 11:20:14 am »
These are CF sized adapters that you insert an SD card into, then insert the whole
thing into your CF slot. The two pics I posted are models that completely contain the
SD card, so nothing sticks out when you use them.
I did a lot of googling and found many reviews and topics on these little adapters.
The only problem is, All of these reviews/topics are from year 2002 or '03
Are these available anywhere from a reputable store? (Not ebay)
Do these work in the 'Z'
Also, would one of these work with with a "Secure Digital" protected card.
What I mean is a SD card such as Picsel Browser that uses the Secure Digital protection scheme.

The Minolta one looks like the SD card is protruding, but according to the article I read,
it goes completely inside the adapter so it will fit into a camera that has a cover over the CF slot.

Thank you,
Jon

I have a CF-SD adapter from Mittoni, see link in sig.
The don't sell the one I have anymore.
The SD card sticks out of it, and it is bigger than a CF card.
Despite it's large size, it does work well.
I have never had any problems with it.

I can't comment on it's use with Secure Digital protection scheme,
I have never tried.

well, the one that Mittoni sells is very old. it works for smaller SD cards, ie less than 512MB but corrupts the SD if you stick something bigger in. I initially thought it might have been a Zaurus issue, but then I stuck the SD to CF adaptor into a PCMCIA adaptor and then into a laptop and it yielded the same problem. Small SD ok, larger SD -> corruption.

I wonder if that is a pin-out issue. I intend on using one of these with Picsel Browser on a 512mb SD card.
And would also like to be able to access 2GB or  4GB SD cards using the adapter.
I'm going to call a local camera shop tomorrow and see if they carry the Minolta one.
I want one that fits all the way in the slot W/O the SD protruding.

Thank you,
Jon

I also use an SD-CF adapter from Mittoni with my C3100 (sorry, no model number or identification i can give you) but it does contain the SD card completely and fits within the CF slot with no overhang. I use it with a 2GB SD card with no problems at all. Using Cacko 1.23.
