I've had my SL-C1000 for a few days now, and I'm trying to install some software packages on it. However, nothing I've tried so far has worked.
First off, I should mention that I'm no Linux newbie, I've been using Linux for at least 10 years. So I've resolved the missing library issues and things like that.
But so far, I've installed the following packages
xu4_0.7cvs_arm.ipk
libSDL_1.2.6cvs-1_arm.ipk
zlib_1.1.2_arm.ipk
libSDL-net_1.2.5cvs-1_arm.ipk
MaxMame-1.2.tar.gz
libSDL-mixer_1.2.5cvs-1_arm.ipk
libSDL-image_1.2.3-1_arm.ipk
heretic-engine_1.0.4-2_arm.ipk
heretic-demo_1.2-3_arm.ipk
So, xu4 seems to only corrupt the screen, not do anything useful
heretic started loading. I only got a white screen. I could here all the heretic sounds as though a heretic demo game was playing, but I never saw the graphics. I also could not figure out how to quit it, I ended up having to yank the battery (where is the ESC key on these things?)
MaxMame, I set up a file structure on an SD card, similar to what I have for my PC, I copied some roms over, edited the advmame.rc to point to this structure. When I try to run a game, it tells me it can't find the roms (how do I even know it's reading the advmame.rc?) Worse, it freezes my terminal session so I have to kill it and start another.
I should point out that I'm using the Sharp rom, because I haven't figured out which other rom to switch to (if any). Are these packages incompatible with the Sharp ROM? How can I tell for sure?
I was really looking forward to the Z, but I'm getting discouraged with it.
I'm hoping it's a package incompatibility issue, and someone can tell me where I went wrong. I think the main problem is these packages seem to lack any kind of Z-related documentation/release notes to help you get started.
