New Release Of Zbedic - 1.0.rc1
« on: March 04, 2006, 07:38:44 pm »
A long planned extension to zbedic is finally there. Now dictionaries can be edited in zbedic.  To enjoy this new feature, dowload the latest version from http://bedic.sourceforge.net/index.html.

Because there were major changes, this version is currently beta (marked rc1). If you find any problems, report them using the Bugs tracker at the SF project page.

Try installing on my SL-5600 and prompted that some dependents needed to be installed as well.

What should I install as it does not work after clicking the Zbedic icon?

This is great news!  Thank you so much.  I will test this tonight.

The next thing would be to bring ZBedic to a regular Linux box.  I know you are busy but maybe there is somebody else who could do it.  I would give a donation to such a person

If somebody is interested in Ukrainian, Russian and some other dictionaries send me a pm.

Some times ago I started to work on a fltk version for the agenda vr3. This runs also on the c1000 and on the 5500G and on the desktop. You can find a version for the c1000 on
http://members.cheese.at/woody/zaurus/c1000-archives

The current version is experimental but it includes one additional feature:
- loading a text and clicking at the words gives the best fitting translation

Additionally it's prepared for storing results of vocabulary test in an extra file (for learning).

I've added a very fast compiled version (which does use fltk instead of fltk-utf8, which is the better choice)

From the ZBedic website:

Starting with version 1.0, zbedic depends on the sqlite3 library. The best is to install sqlite3 library first and then zbedic package without "_static" label. In case there are problems installing sqlite3, there is a statically linked version of zbedic (the package with "_static" in its name). Note however that the static version is bigger, takes more memory and takes longer to launch the application.

This looks very interesting. What zbedic functionality is implemented and what is missing? Do you plan to continue the development?

Where do I find fltk library to try this prog?  It says it can't find libfltk-utf8.so.1.1

Is this for pdaXrom, not for Sharp-based Roms?

I tried the new ZBedic.  It works well.  I like that it shows the dictionary info when there is no word entered in the search area.

It would take some time to get accustomed to the new functions.  I will play with sintax and see how it works.  So far so good.

I think the right portion of the screen is clipped a little.  I don't see the scrolling bar and sometimes words are clipped.  Am I doing something wrong?

Could you send a screenshot or a digital photo? This happens when editing or viewing entries?

In principle it was thought for gpe on the sl5500 when no qt is available in parallel.

Actually I used it to implement an additional feature for translation support. You can load a text point on a word and get the best fit from the directory.
As second enhancement I plan to add support for learning vocabulary. Where you can store if you already know this word or not.
Currently working:
- checked with different dictionaries
- also checked with wikipaedia including following the links stored inside to show other subjects
- you can switch to another dic
- normal scrolling through the dic
- for output the fltk html widget is used which works in most of the cases as expected
- fltk-utf8 gives the possibility to show foreign characters
(I have used the standard pdaXrom feeds to get fltk-utf8:
http://mail.pdaxrom.org/1.1.0beta1/Zaurus-C1000-C3100/feed/)
but it worked also on the SL5500G with the normal fltk libs.
- properties are already loaded but most of the dics don't have properties
