Funny that you mention that. I was just wondering myself if there is a front layer. On the description how to install the protector there is nothing about a front layer, only that you need to remove the back layer. Also, there was only a little sticker on the back layer which instructed me to remove it. Do you have the same protector as I have?

no I don't, but your desciption of the problem was pretty much what I was seeing before I took of the front layer.  If you don't have a front layer, then that *is* bad.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

some of the screen protectors out there are quite foggy, I've tested a lot of them...

I recommend you stick to sellers you can trust unless you want a foggy screen ...

a lot of these cheap screen protectors were designed for old 320x240 resolution PDAs and will look terrible on the Zaurus.

I made a (crappy) picture from my screen with the protector on it. I think you'll get the idea what I mean if you look at it. Any of you have a better protector than the one in the picture?

You wouldn't know there was a screen protector on when using the one from streamlinecpus.
