Hi, gave this a try, but had a flash write error followed by it rebooting and giving a ton of jffs2 errors before resulting in a kernel panic.

I'm wondering if the flash needs to be resized. I resized it for cacko. What size should it be for this on a C1000?

Thanks

I think you need to resize root partition to 53Mb using pdaxrom NAND resize tool
SL-C1000 from PriceJapan(cheap and very fast shipping) with EA-70 power adapter, iRiver USB Host cable, PDAIR case, pentopia stylus, ultra clear screen-protector from shop.brando.com.hk only $3 for shipping worldwide

I resized it to the max 121 and that worked - this looks pretty cool

Edit:

I tried it again with 53, but that came up with jffs2 errors.
I increased to 60 and this worked with no errors.
Am sure the correct point is somewhere in between, but I'm just playing. If anyone knows ;-)

Where do I find the bits that I need to open pdf in GPE? Is it possible? I had a look in the feed on hentges.net but there was access denied in the gpe folder.

Default, IIRC, is 64/64 even split.
2 SL-C1000's: Cacko 1.23 and OZ/Opie 3.5.4.1rc4
1 512MB SD
1 1GB SD
1 2GB SD (in the Cacko box)
2 Socket LP Ethernet CF cards (both work under Cacko and OZ)
1 Symbol Spectrum24 Wifi (works on Cacko, not on OZ)
1 Socket Bluetooth
1 256MB CF
1 320MB CF
1 1GB CF

1 SL-5500 with OZ 3.5.4 loaded on a 256MB SD

epdfview_0.1.2-r1_arm.ipk

from the above location won't install. I get an ipkg failure and the whole package manager falls over.

Any ideas?

EDIT:

OK, looked at the system configuration tool and it mentioned that it was out of space. That the sytem part only had 2mb left.

I'm guessing the NAND partitioning of 64mb isn't enough.

If I max out the partition to 121, will this have a downside elsewhere?

Tried the latest 3.5.4.1 kernel with gpe on my akita. Didn't realise that the zImage file needs to be zImage.bin for akita instead of plain zImage like in Collie.

Once I got that right, everything went smoothly.

Great job CoreDump! Everything felt like 2~3 times faster than the Cacko 1.23 rom I am currently using.

I also tried RC5 on the Collie and now it has no more visible problems.

One thing I noticed about the rotation thingie. When I rotate my Akita to  inverted portrait, the cursor keys remained unmapped to the new orientation. Other than that, everything was swell! Very fast!

btw, can I use the efonts*.ipk files in the hentges rom like I did for Cacko to display Chinese characters? I currently have MurphyTalk and efonts installed on my Cacko for Chinese input and reading. Any tips for that? Thanks!
Snappy!
