Akita is the codename for the Zaurus SL-C1000, so no, this image won't run on your c7x0, sorry.

OK,

I tried again with a resize of 96 but that also didn't give me any space to install anything.

I've just tried again with a resize to the max of 121.

This is what the system info says:

Code: [Select]
System Memory
Free Memory: 1.0mb
Total 60.0mb

Internal Flash
Free Memory: 8.1mb
Total 58.0mb, Mounted at /

Internal Flash
Free Memory: 61.3mb
Total 63.0mb, Mounted at /home

This is pretty much identical to every NAND utilities flash resize I've tried using the Cacko installer to resize the flash.

Any every time I try (no matter what flash size I've tried) and install epdfview_0.1.2-r1_arm.ipk

Code: [Select]
I get a pop up saying IPKG backend failure, cannot continue
And the package manager falls over. I tried looking in the log, but I couldn't see anything near the end that looked like info about the failure.

Anyone got any ideas why this is failing to allow me to install anything?

Just do a NAND restore so you can be certain about your flash layout.
I guess all your problems vanish after that.

And then what should I try?

Hi,

did anyone give Hentges-Aktia-OPIE and WPA a try ?

Before I used OZ (I think it was the second RC) now I would like to try the hentges ROM

I downloaded hentges-opie-image-de-akita_T1-RC4.tar.gz

Flash was no problem and it runs great.

Now I started to to set-up my WPA WLAN connection, in the same way I did in OZ. (used http://openzaurus.berlios.de/HowTos/roamin...wpa_supplicant)

In OZ it works fine but I run in trouble with the hentges ROM.

Just a few points I noticed.

Under OZ, the card was linked to wlan0 in hentges to eth0.
The card is somewhat strange detected "prismI" before AFAIK it was detected as DCF-660W

the wpa_supplicant did not work in hentges.
the command wpa_supplicant -ieth0 -Dhostap -c \etc\wpa_supplicant.conf pops up that the card or kernel is not able to run ... ???? I will paste the exact log if nececarry.

I belive but I can not proof it without flashing the old OZ again, that there are different versions of WPA_Supplicant ?

Can anybody tell  me wether he was successful with WPA under the last hentges release

Thanks

Torsten

Thanks Hrw for the quick answer.
If I understand you right, the DCF-660W was before running by another driver and know switched to the orinoco_cs driver. If so, it should be possible to switch it back to the old driver. Just because before (OZ RC2) it works fine for me.

Hi, this is the first time I use OZ and Hentges, I decided to try both out in the GPE versions. First I flashed OZ RC4 and everything went ok (I changed the filename). Then I flashed Hentges and tried it a bit, got a few errors with the sound, so I wanted to change back to 3.5.4.1-RC4. When I did so it looked like flashing went ok, but I got the following error:

ERROR: FAILED
/bin/sh: Can't access tty: job control turned off

A search for this on the forum only brought up a thread about a request to develop the installer.

Afaik I did not do anything different than the first time, other than that the first time I started with a flash that was erased by the pdaxrom installer instead of the one supplied with OZ.

My machine is a C1000, nand is partitioned to 64/64 with the pdaxrom partition manager (which is the default I read earlier in a thread here).

Could anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it please?

What I'm going to try now is to reboot to pdaxrom and erase the flash with that, then overwrite the files with the OZ ones again and try to reinstall.

EDIT:
Hmm I tried reinstalling Hentges and that seems to go well. I still don't know why the normal OZ 3.5.4.1 RC4 worked the first time and not the second though. Perhaps something to do with erasing the user part of the flash? However in Hentges I can't start a shell (other programs go fine).

Is there a reason why the background and top toolbar of abiword is purple? I'm kinda new to abiword, how do I change that?

The problem is that DCF-660W is "manfid 0x0156, 0x0002" which is used by many cards - most of them work with orinoco_cs, many works also with hostap_cs (but not all). We cannot disable them from orinoco_cs binding so sometimes DCF-660W is handled by orinoco_cs (eth0) instead of hostap_cs (wlan0).

Solution is 'ipkg remove -recursive *orinoco*'

OK,

I did a NAND restore of the trisoft.de NAND backup of the C1000's Sharp ROM.

I then flashed OZ/GPE

This is what the system info says:

Code: [Select]
System Memory
Free Memory: 2.0mb
Total 60.0mb

Internal Flash
Free Memory: 8.1mb
Total 58.0mb, Mounted at /

Internal Flash
Free Memory: 39.4mb
Total 63.0mb, Mounted at /home

So this is a bit of a change from the previous attempt, especially in the /home area.

I tried installing the epdf again, but again an error occurred with nothing in the error log to report to explain what happened.

What the heck am I doing wrong? :-(

Could it be the program I'm trying to install or is it my memory layout?

Memory layout should be fine - looks like you have sufficient space (8MB).

What was the error message?

Si

P.S. Try installing from the command line so you get a message

So... I downloaded that and tried that and it now works so I'm a happy bunny. It's cool to have a pdf viewer :-) But I'll say it's not a very good one :-( A bit slow and cumbersome. Any better that anyone knows about?
