Thanks for your thoughts, InSearchOf and chyang
Interesting that neither of you think it's good to get a larger MD....
chyang, only reason I don't like using CF's is that I can't use my either my WiFi or my Ethernet CF card while the CF storage card is in it....
As you say, InSearchOf, it's nice to have the flexibility with storage cards of moving files around w/o having to connect up Z to PC, etc.....
Hmmmm......

Depends entirely on your usage pattern.
If you need the space internally, you should go for the larger MD.
I for one would not need it at all. I'll exchange the MDs in my two 3000s soon with 4GB CFs because I need stability, speed and battery life.
Actually, I'd even go for 1GB or 2GB FC cards if I haven't had a good opportunity to buy 4GB ones.
Now that there is an SD driver for cards >1GB, I'll rather see how to enlarge storage in the SD slot, even more because the SD slot cannot be used for anything else. The CF slot can be used for so many things.
The best for me would be to have only program data on internal storage and all user data on external storage such as SD, because then backup is much easier and more reliable and additionally I can pop the SD card simply into another Zaurus or computer and continue to use my user data right were I stopped before.
So I'll definitely go for a 4GB SD card, put all data on it (also large things like dictionaries, Wikipedia dump etc. which I currently still have on MD) and additionally put regular (weekly, and always before I install anything new) backups of hda2 and home on the card.
Then I'll periodically, maybe once a week, put the SD card into the Linux PC and do a full backup of the card.
For additional backup, I'll maybe run a daily backup which tar-s some SD card data (preferably data which changes often, such as PIM, email and notes) onto a backup file on the internal MD. This would be to have recent versions at hand in case I screw something up and need to revert to the previous file version.
The remaining internal space could be used to store MP3 for occasional listening.
But since I don't have much time to do so, maybe I'll really go for smaller CF cards internally... ;-) Well, we'll see.
Another idea:
If the MD is replaced by a CF card, there would be a good way of making more room for albertr's wireless USB dongles to put inside the SL-C3x00.
The CF cards can be taken apart (remove the case) and then they are much thinner, leaving room for another layer of electronics, such as BT and Wifi boards...
Just an idea, not (yet) tested!
