Thanks again for all of the feedback regarding the cXXX series keyboard, screen, and other benefits.  I can\'t wait to be able to order it... even with no built-in wifi   Thanks kutscher for the great advice on where to buy it as well!

I\'ll chime in with my usual \"the 6000\'s transflective screen makes it perfect\" wishlist, but built in wifi would make it easier to type while surfing (it\'s not that big of a deal though)

great - thanks for the responses!  im writing on my 5500, and its really not bad, but as you you said zbones - i wonder how often id do this if i tried a c860...

and yes, im trying to justify this expenditure!  the last thing that id want is to spend the $$ and then realize that the 5500 can serve the same functions well enough.  and one BIG plus i see to the 860 is the keyboard possibilities.  thanks again for the input!

I\'m sure you\'ve already heard this a hundred times, but I thought I\'d reiterate the point... while the keyboard is great, the screen really kicks ass!  Before I got the 760, I used to browse websites from the couch or bed via wifi on my 5500.  The whole browsing experience (including posting to forums, etc.) is 100 times better with the landscape screen and vga.  I didn\'t think I\'d like the clamshell design all that much, but now I\'m a total convert.  I wouldn\'t ever go back.  That\'s the main reason why I don\'t like the sl-6000 at all, even with it\'s fancy new features.

Just more to chew on

oh man, you\'re thinking what I\'m thinking too!! If only the SL-6000 was clamshell design I would get it in a heartbeat!

that\'s the only thing I think missing from the Cxx0, built in wifi. I can do w/o the bultin bluetooth b/c I dont use it, but the wifi is essential.
I'm now an iphone user and use my zaurii as serial terminals, perl and shell scripting and when I need 640x480 screens

Also you dont have to carry around a wifi card that might get separated. For example, I switched jackets today and I left the wifi card in my other

Absolutely agree - and in general the \'SL5500?+ whatever\' version format doesn\'t even come close to Cxxx format

I have both - ones a pda and the other is a mini-pc
SL 5000D, SL5500 - tkc rom / C760 - proto 2.5.1 - javab0y /Spectrum24 / Dlink DCF650w / Buffalo wli-cf-s11g / Origo Wifi / Compaq B21 Cf Modem / EagleTec CF 10-base ethernet / Various SD/MMC / Socket Bluetooth / VW Golf GTIT (debian integrated supercharger - honest) ;-) PPC2003.net with TomTom Nav 5 - TomTom is blinding GPS s/w - sorry but nothing on o/s comes close to TomTom (wish it did).

When is the Next Clamshell version coming out? I am a Z wanabe & Linux Newbie. Still using my Handspring Prism. (Although I have figured out how to do some neat stuff with the old palm, Telenet, VNC, but I need more) I am guessing the next clamshell will be a step above the SL-6000?

Also, I was wondering... I dont yet have a Zee but have been writing VERY simple programs for my Linux box with QT. If I cross compiled for a Z, Would one of you test it for me? (When I get a Z I need to port over a few programs that I wrote for Palm OS.) Thanks.
Zaurus 5500!  (Finally, many years later)
Other:
Tungsten T5, Treo 650, Handspring Prism, Handspring Neo x 3, Zodiac 2, GPS (for visors) , Targus Keyboard, 1gb SD X 2.

Unfortunately, no one knows when the next clamshell is coming out, especially if you\'re specifically speaking of an official US release.  Sharp seems to be reserving their consumer models to the Japanese market and focusing on the enteprise market in the US.  So really, who knows?

I could do some testing for you on either a 5500 or 760...  also, you could just attach the app that needs to be tested to a thread under the development forum and others may test it as well.
