Carrying Case For Zaurus 3100
« on: July 16, 2006, 11:34:47 pm »
I am looking for a good carrying case for my Zaurus 3100. I have looked in the local stores but nothing seems to fit very well. Can anyone recommend one? Hopefully not too expensive....

I've mentioned this case a long time ago, but...

I ended up getting a Tapwave case, which fits perfectly, has an outside pocket for the usb cable, inside pockets for cf/sd cards and an extra stylus. Zips up

I forget how much I paid for it but I'm sure it was less than 20 bucks.  Got it at CompUSA.

I found a picture of it [a href=\"http://zodiac.allack.co.uk/Extras/Detail.php?ProductID=123]here[/url].  Granted, it' snot a great picture, but...

I just buy pants that fit my gadgets

but for those looking for a cheap solution:
1. take some paper and wrap it around the Z to make a pocket for it that you are happy with
2. Cover with Gaff[,ers] (see man bash) tape (my prefrence is black)

flexible and extensible

PDAir has the model for Cxx00 series. On its own site, it's listed as $28 world wide free shipping.
pdaden.com has it for $17.95, but charges shipping fee, around $26.

I have bought 2 from there, and may help if you need current coupon to reduce $3.

I use this from RhinoSkins, they have a medium size that fits well, but the larger allows my Wificard to remain in for War-walking

http://www.saunders-usa.com/rhinoskin/outlet.cfm?sku=94772

It too has a zippered pocket in front for the wifi card and another pocket for other stuff, also has a pen pocket on the side too. Metal clip in the back for hanging it on the belt for that Uber-Geek look.

I have the PDAir case - it looks nice but it doesn't really have much space for extra cards (CF wifi card fits but it's a squeeze!)  No space for cables, etc.

However it does wrap up the Z nicely and looks pretty good.

I have two cases that I use regularly.  First, this one is only $3 from Radio Shack.  It has two compartments inside separated by a little card, one for the Z and one for cables and such.  The power brick is too big to fit, unfortunately.

Nintendo DS Case

Second, I have been travelling a lot and using a Pelican 1020 waterproof hard case.  It fits the Z perfectly; I mean it's like it was made for it.  I put the Z in first and put my iPod 5g slip case on top containing my wifi card, a spare cf card, and a screen cloth.  My pen stylus fits as well.  It is about $20 with shipping online.   The Pelican case fits into my cargo shorts and pants very well, though it's a bit bulky.

Neither of these is for using the Z while cased.  I prefer to have it as small and light as possible while I'm typing away.

Hope this helps.
