« on: July 17, 2006, 05:30:58 pm »
Hi!

I have a Zaurus C1000 and i just want to have Wifi and BlueTooth at the same time.
I have seen on th forum that some guys succed in!

but me i'm just an analyst/developper, so i don't have any knowledge in electronic's ...

So it is possible for me to add this feature to my Zaurus?

Perhaps there is a hack or something ...

Without electronics experience, and a very steady hand, your best bet is is buy a combo USB 802.11 and bluetooth stick, and pick up an iRiver host cable. It won't be internal, but with the flexible cable, you could tape it to the case in a convient spot.

Any price search engine will find them if you enter "bluetooth wifi usb", or go to eBay.

The sub-forum Da_Blitz mentioned is the only place I've seen an internal usb bluetooth and wifi Zaurus. Though it may be "simple soldering" to Da_Blitz, it's not a mod for the timid.

Yes that was said as sarcasm however soldering is alot simpler than one might think, the tool acts like a ink pen, you just have to know when to pull it up (for example if you were drawing a dot with an ink pen the dot gets larger until you remove the pen)

anyway, i would rate the danger level as "flashing your Z" the dangorus factor depends on how much of a linux guru you are as both types are undoable (yes even soldering can be undone, however you might lose the Z's ability to power an external device if you do somthing like not pay attention to the tutroial or use a plumbers soldering iorn instead of an electricians)

that said, find someone who knows how to solder and ask them, if you live in sydney i may be able to help you out
