No Apache For Oz?
« on: August 01, 2006, 08:47:50 pm »
I'd been trying to configure apache to run on my 3200 with OZ/Opie when I read this:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...=30#entry119453

Apache won't work on OZ at all? This is horrible!

Is this to do with my processor or is there still hope?

People must be running apache on their SL-CXXXXes. This can be done right?
3200 running Cacko 1.23 (It Works!)
AmbiCom WL1100C-CF wireless LAN card (Not working =p)
1gb SD
Multiple CF storage cards.

Hmmm,

I'm sure that Cherokee is great, but this is kind of a standards thing. I've been using and building with Apache-based software for while now. I'd be wanting to run it all on my Z as well, if only to be  stubborn and curmudgeonly.
I can do this in pdaXrom right?

I've never used Cherokee. What makes you say that it's better?

Koen,

I've been fiddling with wedging the contents of the Cherokee arm.deb and it's dependencies into a usable bunch of ipks. I had hoped to produce a working install and useful ipks all in one go (eyes too big for stomach) but I'm starting to realise that some of the dependency files might already exist in OZ.

I'm guessing that the names of the dependencies have changed and ipkg doesn't recognise them. So, I have to ask, how did you go about installing Cherokee on your Z? Perhaps if I start there I can produce the relevant ipks later.

There do appear to be a large number of dependencies and dependencies of dependencies, some of which are looking pretty basic and universal.

Did you install all this stuff?

OpenEmbedded can build cherokee, and iirc hrw already added it to the feeds. If not, ask for it to be included.

Well when I started this topic, and when I started trying to build an ipk there was no cherokee in the feeds, but there is now. Awsome.

Thanks Koen, and whoever put that in the feed as well.

The only problem is that the files appear to be in some way corrupt.
ipkg says it's not available from any configured src.
I downloaded the files and gzip says it can't recognize the format as does stuffit expander
tried ar:
ar -xv cherokee_0.5.3-r1_arm.ipk
ar: debian-binary/: No such file or directory
ar: data.tar.gz/: No such file or directory
ar: control.tar.gz/: No such file or directory

We'll get there. I guess I should start posting this in OZ/Common

Thanks again.

I get the same on OSX, so I guess darwin's ar is broken
