Note Taking App - Suggestions?
« on: September 28, 2006, 04:42:42 am »
This is driving me mad. I've searched the web high and low, I've scoured every related post on this site but can't find a note taking app that suits my needs.

I've got an SL-C3200 with CackoLite and I'm looking for a simple notes app that can have categories associated with the notes.

Can anyone recommend something? Being able to export them in one go (or at least back them up) would be nice too.

There are a few  softwares floating around.

out of curiosity, why not create directories within a folder and just dump the txt files within each category/folder?  This is exactly what most applications do.  I use the file explorer to go through the directories as if it was categories and i just click on the txt file to open notes. and if i want pictures, i use handcom word to create word or rtf files and embed pictures within them.

example.

nursing directory can have 5 directories related to geriatrics to peds and within it more subdivisions and notes within these subdivisions.  i can just grab the nursing directory to any linux, mac or windows os and view them just the same.

anyway,  Sorry for this part, tuxcards is what you want.....there are other simpler programs but i cant recall.  this one is a bit of a headache to install and i wrote some instructions which help with the install.  I just don't have the instructions because i opted to do the folder and txt thing instead.

TuxCards4z_1.0.0-4z_arm.ipk
openssl_0.9.7d_arm.ipk
gtk2_2.4.13_arm.ipk
Qt331_emb_free_lib_compiled_for_zaurus.tar.gz
qt-embedded-free-3.3.1.tar.bz2
libqte-mt.so.3

I cant remember how to install this but it is a headache.

There is more hiarchy notes programs but i cannot recall.....someone will post here ....its just being patient thats going to kill ya

The programs I tried all seem to switch to low res portrait mode designed for the previous Zaurii I guess.

The files and folders thing would work I guess but I wanted something a little more accessable.

I'm actually thinking of writing one!

I'm interested in tuxcards for cacko 1.23.  I've been using portabase for lots of stuff but wouldn't mind giving this a spin.

It seems very nice and orderly.
