Problem To Install Cacko
« on: September 29, 2006, 08:19:16 am »
Hello, I was using pdaxrom, but now i want to try cacko.

Trought my SD i have made NAND Restore for re-install the Sharp boot loader and the Sharp ROM. It's OK and the Sharp ROM works fine but in JP.
I download this file http://cacko.oesf.org/downloads/rom/1.23/S...-1029311005.zip
I unzip it and put the file on the root of SD, when Z  reboot press ok and make partitioning and install new rom. The installation is ok. Reboot.

When Z start, it remaining with the Sharp logo and make nothing....

What can i do ?

Anyone have a NAND Backup with Cacko Installed ?

THANKS

Bye

If there is the Sharp logo on boot, the CackoROM isn't flashed right. With Cacko on your Zaurus on boot you would see a small Cacko-logo and an white-on-black bootscreen with boot messages.

Try to flash it again with this direction from cacko.biz:

    1. Extract the 3 files - initrd.bin tools.tar updater.sh - to the root of your CF or SD/MMC card.
    2. Make sure that Zaurus isn't plugged into AC power.
    3. Remove battery for at least 5 seconds.
    4. Replace battery (replace battery cover, lock cover), plug in AC power.
    5. Press and hold the "OK" button on the keyboard.
    6. Turn the power on, you should see the Japanese service menu.
    7. Now Plug in the Power Cord. (You will get an error if it isn't plugged in!)
    8. Select option 4 (flash/update).
    9. You then have several options including CF and SD
    10. Choose either CF or SD, depending on which media you put the files on.

    11. Select "3 NAND Flash Utils"
    12. Select "1 Resize root partition"
    13. Enter 32 when prompted for root partition size (On lite version enter 19!).
    12. Flash will be repartioned and Zaurus will reboot.

    13. Repeat steps 2-10 again and wait for the menu start menu.
    14. Now select "1 Install new ROM" and wait. Reboot your Zaurus when ROM installaiton is complete.

The new version of pdaXrom uses a bootloader that cannot be removed by the Cacko installer.  There was a thread somewhere on how to remove the pdaXrom bootloader and install a Sharp based ROM, but I can't seem to find it.

Can't you just install Cacko as per instructions now?
[a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15820]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15820[/url]

That's what I did. I NAND restored the Sharp rom from Trisoft, then re-installed Cacko.
I've never had  pdaXrom installed though.

go to this post.
It has pics of the Japanese menus translated, and steps you through the installation.

I have the same probelm.

After running pdaXrom, my zaurus (C-760) flashed by the original sharp rom.
The sharp rom can be boot correctly.

But when I update it by the cacko rom, my zaurus failed to boot.
There is always the sharp logo on the screen only.

You can try like this:

reflash your zaurus with a NAND-roginal-backup, you can find the files here.

after try to install cacko.

I don't know but I think that cacko need files of the original sharp-rom....maybe..
