Wait For 3.5.4.2, Try Poky Or ?
« on: October 23, 2006, 06:10:00 am »
Is there a rough schedule or release date for OZ 3.5.4.2?

What version of OZ is poky based on? Is is up to date with the latest cvs OZ or even newer?

Can I use the OZ feeds under poky?

Has nobody put together any pre-built images of poky for the c3000?

I plan to use pcmanfm for file and desktop icon management, what window manager that is already in OE works well in conjunction with pcmanfm for a good OZ desktop?

Are there any other distros that are available for the c3k (Hentages or Angstrom maybe) that I should be considering?

I need to know that dillo 0.8.6 will be accepted into OZ before i bother with this though as I find firefox too bulky for a 64MB machine just to check my emails.

Poky isn't based on OZ

Neither OZ nor OE nor poky uses CVS

You can build it yourself using OE

OpenZaurus 3.5.4.2 will be released when 2.6 kernel for poodle and tosa will get some things resolved.

I will not say about Poky as this is not my thing and I never touched it.

The rumours exists that UmbaUmba 17.3 is available for sl-c3000 but no public release was done because it's maintainer does not like oesf users.

Speaking about pcmanfm and dillo - someone requested it at all?

Man, did you not hear that UmbaUmba is delayed until probably 18.1 as the author wants to use ixwmmx3 to optimise the use experience.

I just looked at the list of poky packages and its not much at the moment. I might check it out again in a few months when its had chance to expand.

EDIT

Indeed, pcman isn't in OE yet but that has replaced Nautilus, Thunar and Rox as my GTK file manager of choice looking at the screenshots and features.

Gotta blag my dad into installing hentages, then i'll attempt to write a bb file for the latest dillo, then pcman would be next, or vice versa.

I tried pcman under debian last night but it doesn't register the insertion or removal of removeable disks yet which is one of the main reasons i wanted it under OZ. Thunar would be a better choice ATM
