Did you fix the autoconf problem with zgcc? I'm looking forward to 5.3!

zgcc image has been fixed ages ago, but it is not convennient to upload it from an airport terminal  you will have to wait till I get home before I can upload any larger files...

Hi Meanie,

first thanks for the great work, the Zaurus becomes much more useful with it!  

Did you linked QT Assistant and Designer against the multithreaded lib in the new zgcc image?

Unfortunately I still have a problem with pdf. Xpdf isn't showing fonts while epdfviewer shows well but crashes often with segfault.

I'm determined to get USB keyboard support to at least a non-annoying state for 5.3 so I loaded my latest UK USB keyboard map and Abiword under 5.2 (on c3000) and I went through every key to find the undesirable bindings and there are still quite a few remaining

KEY             |                   ACTION

Alt_Gr (Right Alt)     |     Starts Stardict

Right Windows Key   |  Starts rox

Print Screen        |         Starts xmms

F5               |                   Starts mrxvt

F6                |                  Startx xmms

F7                 |                 Starts rox

F9                  |                Starts dillo


I should imagine fixing these would simply be a case of deleting lots of stuff from the openbox config file again. If I was to map the Euro key then I would need use of Alt_Gr as on UK keyboards you normally push Alt_Gr and 4 to print a Euro sign.

I have a question. Have not tried on pdaXii13 yet, but I installed the mb-applet-blanker package you published (on pdaXrom 1.1.0beta3).

If it is started when Z is on AC, it shows that suspend is deactivated.
If I unplug the Z then, the icon remains the same and the menu still shows the option "Enable suspend", although on unplugging, suspend should be enabled automatically.
In fact, waiting the preset 10 minutes, the Z indeed suspends.
However, it does NOT blank the screen after 2 minutes, as I have configured it.

Also, I had the behaviour once, that it suspended when on AC, although I have configured it not to do so at all.

For configuration I use the System Tools / Light and Power application.

If you have the time, could you please write a few words about how the new blanker applet works, what you modified etc.?

Or: What's the way to make the system use the correct configuration from Light and Power, but still using your new blanker applet which should reliably disable blanking and suspend temporarily?

EDIT: Also, it would be nice if you would PM me the sources.

I've noticed the X keymap, and I'm talking just about the keymap of the built-in Z keyboard, still seems to mess up after a while under pdaXii13 5.2 and start producing incorrect or nonsense characters. You can normally fix it by restarting X. Maybe these problems also stem from the openbox keyboard bindings?

Is there much chance of you getting to upload an updated zgcc soon? I'd like to see fltk added. Compile 1.1.7 with

./configure --enable-shared --enable-threads

If you decide to include it.

I had a similar problem, but check and see if the Fn key has been pressed. It's a sticky key and I have to remember to disable it after I use the Fn key.
This is in both pdaxii13 versions. (akita and non-akita)

If I press Fn it only stays 'sticky' for the next keypush and for that keypush only. I don't think this has anything to do with my bug. I remember Antikx reporting this exact same problem so I hoping Meanie will either tell me its fixed or he knows how to fix it

from your description, it seems like you are using an older version of the blanker applet. I made many versions of it, each update fixing some more bugs that I found. I believe the latest version fixes those problems you describe. I will upload the source once I get home (which hopefully will be in a day or so)

little bug report:
i used to connect my zaurus to my pc via usb cable and then access the sdcard which is inside the zaurus. i found that when i eject the drive under the pc, the /mnt/card stay mounted readonly on the zaurus...
umount/mount it again remounts it as readwrite... would someone help?

can we consider 5.3 alpha = 5.2 with all your fixes or did you change something else ? in another words, can we upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3 by just upgrading packages ?

yes, 5.2 + updated/new packages as described gives 5.3
well, about 98% of it. you will then need to manually put the icons on the desktop and change the wallpaper...
