Pdaxrom For C3000 (based On Beta1/beta3)
« Reply #225 on: February 08, 2007, 01:46:05 pm »
I haven't installed pdaxii13-akita-5.3 yet.
Maybe it will help fix my screencap/scrot issue.
I looked inside the full spitz 5.2 image and it's setup is completely different than just installing scrot/screencap+depends separately.

Back on topic, I'll install akita-5.3 later today and report any differences here.
I currently have last akita-5.2 (just before 5.3) with latest fix, then a later rc.rofilesys

EDIT: I'm not going to try to "upgrade" to pdaxii13-spitz-full
I'm just going to try to install all additional packages & utilities separately.

What I'm interested in is is it now possible to upgrade ii13A 5.3a to the full hdimage version successfully, if the module dependencies error is now fixed and the unwanted X USB keyboard shortcut keys have been removed. Has anyone tried these already?

yar meanar-

So what would be the drawbacks of having the Module Dependencies boot check fail, if any?

I just installed pdaxii13-akita-5.3 (opps, I had 5.5 there, I corrected it)
here's the bootup message, starting from Welcome.
Code: [Select]
Welcome to pdaxii13 on Sharp Zaurus

cardmgr[443]: socket 0: ATA/IDE Fixed Disk
cardmgr[443]: socket 1: ATA/IDE Fixed Disk
Set loopback device                                     [OK]
Hostname: zaurus                                        [OK]
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit: line 04: 579 Floating Point exceptiondepmod -q 2>/dev/null >/dev/null
Setup console font                                      [OK]
INIT: Entering runlevel: 5
Starting SD services                                    [OK]
Starting sshd:                                          [OK]
Loading USBHost modules                                 [OK]
Starting Bluetooth                                      [OK]
Starting smbd...
Starting nmbd...
Starting system message bus:                            [OK]

pdaxii13 build5.3 "Sally"
I'm not sure what the error about rc.sysinit: line 04 means just yet. This error line replaces the "module dependencies" [FAILED] line.
"exceptiondepmod" appears to be 2 words run together, that's not a typo.
Also, upon first boot from the flash menu, pdaxii13 asks if you want to format hdc2 as swap and asks if you want to format hdc3 as fat. This is on my C3200 with both CF and SD cards inserted. (other wise it would be hda2 & hda3)
I haven't done anything else, I'm going to do my usual utility installs and change that clock to AM/PM
Also it didn't mount my fat hdc3 partition automatically.
One last edit here, I found another typing mistake.

Some more observations of pdaxii13-akita-5.3 installed on a C3200.
I just mounted hdc3 and after checking with mount, it is ext3 (rw)
But when I checked it with sfdisk -l it showed as Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
Looks like I'm going back into pdaxii setup and reformatting my drives.
It won't open with "Storage mode" either in Windows.
Repartitioning the drive in the pdaxii13-akita installer also causes the installer to reflash the ROM when you select Reboot [Yes] after the drive is partitioned, (if you use the partitioning with the recommended selection).

After the ROM flashed, I rebooted and while the screen went black, I took out my CF card this time.
The installer then asked if I wanted to format hda2 as swap, I said [NO]
The installer then asked if I wanted to format hda3 as FAT, I said [NO]
pdaxii13 booted to GUI, I opened a console and issued mount:
/dev/hda1 on /mnt/ide/ type ext3 (rw, noatime)
/dev/hda3 on /mnt/data type vfat (rw, noatime, nosuid, nodev)

I'll keep it this way for now. Darn, I just had all my utilities installed. Starting over..
Internal storage now works ("Drive mode")

Hear ye hear ye, especially Meestah Menay. danboids wishlist will likely proceed as follows

1

A working Free Energy system

2

Teleportation

3

Transcend 4D spacetime

4

Become one with all that is

5

Meesatah Meeenoo releases zgcc 5.3 with a working autoconf!

I tried recompiling/installing M4 and autoconf but to no avail which means I still can't compile any svn stuff- like the new Frodo svn C64 emu with a 320x240 SDL interface that I've been dying to try!

Please Menaie!

root and zaurus user by default do not have a password set. you should set a different password for each user.

ssh will not allow a user that has no password to login. this is a good security measure. also, most ssh daemons won't allow root to login by default which also is a good security measure. however, you can change these default security measures by modidifying sshd.conf and disabling them. remember that these measures are there to protect you. if you decide to disable them, then people could ssh into your zaurus and format your partitions if they are malicious...
