I had a similar problem, it happens when the screensaver activates. You need to locate qpe.conf (If I remember correctly) and disable the screensaver by setting the screensaver timeout to 0

That solved my woes.

Now that might do it! I have set Interval=0 will see how it goes..

cheers

no, no, no!

I don\'t overclock it, no!!

;-)

--Update--
Foxdie, I\'ve been thrashing the machine for the last two hours now, no problems, I hope it was just the screensaver interfering and making things crash.

It was definately the screensaver for me, it was crashing Qtopia and because Qtopia takes a while to restart it appears that the Zaurus is rebooting.

If I was to guess why this happens, it would probably be that switching from 640x480 to 320x240 (which is what the screensaver runs at) while either the LCD is off or the Sharp MP3 player is active causes it to segfault and as someone said earlier, it\'s run under the \"Qtopia\" process and takes the whole lot with it when it does.

I told sashz about this a while ago but he says he has no idea why it does this. I guess it\'s just a quirk we\'ll have to live with. In all sincerity, why do we need a screensaver on the Zaurus anyway? It\'s an LCD, it doesn\'t suffer nowhere near as bad from static images as a CRT monitor

I agree with Foxdie, but I do like the screensaver from this Japanese site http://www.skill-engineering.com/zaurus/

Especially the fish module. I haven\'t experienced any crashing with it on my C750.

Foxdie, I think you may have cracked it, my Z has been working fine since I did it, by now I should have had at least 2 or 3 reboots.

Aaaah (sigh of relief), I totally agree the screensaver is a waste of binary really.
Video mode switching could explain the problem, it would make sense and fit the pattern of what I\'ve seen go tits up...

You can easily tell if it\'s the screensaver thats crashing it, just before the crash / reboot the screen goes white with garbled black text in the center, then about 60 - 90 seconds later you hear the qtopia startup sound (assuming you have it enabled).

I like it too. If space permits I may include it in the next Cacko ROM version.

oh, Emperor - your love waxes and wanes with the tides of ROM changes it seems.

but seriously I am using 1.20 on my 750 and listen to music with the screen closed (and display off), and everything is fine , just fine.
Time is the same from day I set it up.

Are u sure you are already not tunkering with it since loading the new ROM ? I am surprised at your Zaurus\'s instability - since my 750 seems to be more stable with Cacko than my 5000D with tkcROM beta.

Ha ha ha!!
I know, I know.  I really should have played with it for a day or two before exploring new ROMs, but I couldn\'t wait, so I am discovering things/find issues as I go along and not knowing where the fault lies, I am learning that my machine is stable too, I\'m just becoming aware of quirks... it\'s all running fine at the mo.

In possesion of a 4gb micrdrive i tend to listen to music a fair bit on my c760.. i have noticed a few things..

1: I tend to set the cpu speed down to \"Default (PXA250)\" to try and save power.. I notice the touchscreen doesnt respond to input very well at this setting.. Using the volume slider or menus becomes very dificult.. Open ImagePAd and try to draw a streight line accross the shortest axis of the screen! (down in landscape mode or accross in portrait mode).

2: Every so often qpe dies and restarts.. (Mentioned ealrier in this thread i think).

It would be nice to have a player that would read the data off the drive in large (maybe a song) blocks at a time. As it is the drive spins prety much continuosly and so drains the battery quickly.

If nobody can sugest a player that will do this i think i will write one myself whereby a buffer of several meg is filled and then drained till say 20% or so and then filled again.. Hopefully the drive might last a little longer and my battery life increase somewaht too.

[EDIT].. Also that will overide the auto suspend after X minutes.. very annoying whilst in the middle of favorite album!

The new ROM will have new screen saver, which does not crash Qtopia and supports disabling of suspend for used-defined applications.
It will also have Media Player from SL6000

I have some problem with Calendar under last cacko rom. i can\'t change openning option. I have only Today view at openning.. i prefer text week view or month view. So i delete Datebook.conf... it\'s the same.. there is another solution to registred openning view..
In the new cacko 1.30 ??

It work\'s with \"fast load option\" because program isn\'t closed, but without this option, openning view doesn\'t change
