Sad news to hear. I was keen to see what the successor to the C3200 would look like. These will now be hot items the buy now, I bet.

no other upgrades though, bigger hdd, more memory, built-in toaster

seems Sharp's announcement of the death of the Zaurus was somewhat premature. perhaps their wzero range hasn't been a magnificent success after all.

Anyone heard any credible or not so credible rumors of Sharp either reviving and updating the Zaurus or producing another handheld device, other than the W-Zero or EM One platforms?

I recently read where Sharp just developed a very nice multi-touch LCD that has built-in optical sensors in each pixel.  Article said it would be able to act as a scanner and could even replace the keyboard.  How would you like an updated Zaurus with an LCD in place of the keyboard and the ability to program the keyboard LCD to any keyboard format or even a giant touch pad?

my Z is a marvel, but more ram would be really really nice --imagine the effect of 256M of ram on your favorite system! of course, I HAVE a bigger hd

actually, as cool as that could be, I think i prefer a simple keyboard.

The Zaurus uses a CG Silicon display; the "touch" technology display you are talking about would be something different. Also remember that you are making holes in the display therefore brightness must be lower.

Unless Sharp start making a 'touch' display at 5" I can't see this happening. Besides Zaurus is a dictionary product now or haven't you been looking at the software that comes packaged with the 1000 and 3200 ?

Does anyone know where I can get a Z nowadays? pricejapan seems to have stopped "stocking" them. I don't really want to buy via European or N American importers as I'm based in HK.

I went to PriceJapan a couple of days ago IIRC, and they had Zaurii listed, just not on the first page like they were.

EDIT: No idea if they had them in stock, though.
