Debian On A C1000

OK, changed this post as it's clearly possible to install debian on a C1000 now I've read more.

Can someone explain or point me towards an explanation of all the different EABIs/OABIs/Tinys/Pokeys as it's all a bit confusing.

What is best for a device with limits such as the C1000?

The kernels do not have very big differences, iirc.
To take a fast drive, the best bet may be the combo of yonggun's 2.6.22.9 kernel (a bit older but works for C1000, here: http://yonggun.tistory.com/53 ) and the EABI rootfs tarball I made (using many of 2or0's packages and scripts, on top of many users' kind contributions). Mind you that it is not perfect, but you'll get a working debian out of the box. Just be extra careful when you are installing uboot. Many got frustrated not because of debian but because of the difficulty of getting uboot installed.

The Angstrom kernels and Cortez's Poky kernels also work as well, but there are a few tweaks you need to apply if you use my rootfs tarball (I hate using "my" because it's not really my work  ), like reconfiguring the touchscreen driver. But there have already been solutions around. Just check out those threads and ask there.

I can only really say from my experiences with both versions of debian, what the perceived differences are.

OABI (Titchy usually) seems to run slower than EABI, in that for instance during installtions I had noticed a pronounced difference in time to do major installs.  Download at the same speed, just the configure and setting up stage was slower.

There are more apps for OABI in the repositories, BUT there are a number of them that don't run as expected.  Or I had a really bad run of luck with apps I wanted

Sound support (at the time I installed OABI) was abbismally bad.   Hardly working at all, now I am not sure this has been fixed yet.  In EABI it works nearly as well as in PdaXii13, and slightly better than PdaXrom 198.  At the time this was a deal breaker for me with OABI, with Zdevil's help I got sound working on EABI and have been happy since.

EABI does seem to have frequent bouts of this program or that program can't install due to depencency issues.  It can be very frustrating, where as OABI seems to have few of these issues.   On the good side, if it installs it works as expected.

Other than that I have not seen a large difference.

Just a quick follow up on the EABI packages:

It's true that some packages in the EABI repos don't install smoothly. Yet there are three workarounds:
#1 Install the reported "broken dependencies" first before installing the target package(s). This often works for me.
#2 (Re)compile the packages yourself. It's actually easier than compiling under pdaX, thanks to the full-fledged and updated toolchain.
#3 Wait for the packages and repos to get updated. The EABI repos are constantly updated very frequently and quickly. They are just getting better and better every day.
