wifi woes (linksys wcf12/5600/tkcrc1)

Ok at first the light was staying on etc. for the linksys card so I changed the info int wlan-ng.conf removing the version line from the wcf12 section.  Now when I run #cardctl ident it identifies it properly, but everytime I try to connect with the gui applet it starts initializes and then almost immediately fails.  Anyone seen anything like this

Found out there were two entries in the wlan-ng.conf, removed the unmodified one and now I am up and running.  Now trying to get kismet to work.  So far I have created a dummy connection, set up a script to
cardctl scheme CardResume
cardctl scheme qpewlan2 &
kismet_qt
cardctl scheme CardSuspend

The card resumes and suspends on exit, but I get the cannot connect to server message every time.

anyone have any clues
