Senao NL-2511CF MERCURY + Dlink DI-624
« on: October 20, 2004, 07:28:42 am »
Well, I spend an infuriating few hours last night trying to get my Senao CF WIFI card going with a Dlink DI-624 WIFI router until at last I found that I could only get packet reception if I dropped the TX-Rate on the DI-624 to 11Mbps. - Finally got it going by doing this, effectively hog tieing the router down to 11Mbps rate

I read a few articals on 802.11g and 802.11b and they seemed to suggest that this isn't necessary for 802.11g compliant devices. - Anyone had better experiences ? - It's a shame that I can't get a higher data rate with my other card for my laptop.

I tried to speak to Dlink tech support in the UK and quite frankly the service stinks  , held the phone for 20mins, got cut off, called back, held for another 15mins got through. Explained the situation and the guy asked me what card I was using and said that it isn't on the www.wi-fi.org compliant list, their router is and he couldn't help me. It didn't help me telling him that it was a standard Prism2 chipset used by a variety of cards (which I'm sure there's one on the list).

I was in the middle of getting the certifications from the Senao website to point him at a URL and he just cut me off !, I won't be buying any more Dlink stuff EVERY again, and neither will any companies that use me in their purchasing decisions and BELIEVE ME I'm in a position to influence a few !
