Disabling Android Features
« on: November 13, 2019, 09:06:31 am »
How to remove the annoying, monstrous home page footprint of the "search" bar?

Well, I disabled Google and that removes its search bar.

HOWEVER, disabling Chrome DOES NOT remove its search bar (and leaves one without a decent browser).

WTHeck?!

Any how-to git'er done and gone instructions are WELCOMED!

On the Gemini (my Cosmo hasn't arrived yet), I was able to get rid of the annoying desktop search bar by switching to a different launcher -- in my case, the paid version of Nova Launcher.

Does this work for you?

Yep, switching to another launcher is one way.

Another workaround is to drag your icons to a second page (to the right).  The Google bar is only on the first page.

I found elsewhere an advice to disable Google application in app preferences. Unfortunately, after disabling and restarting device, the search bar was still there, it just became non-functional.
