Is the LEDison useful to Cosmo Communicator owners?

Hi All,

I see the Planet Computers LEDison app installed on the Cosmo Communicator. It seems to be an app best suited for the Gemini PDA because it does not have the front display panel. I am curious to know if the LEDIson is useful for Cosmo Communicator owners and any information that could explain how to best use this utility on the Cosmo.

To a greater degree, I guess the front screen sort of makes ledison superfluous. You could argue that from a distance, you can see the LEDs better than read the small screen I suppose. I haven't enabled/configured ledison and don't really miss it.

Ledison emulation was a huge selling point for me.  the LED array on the original gemini was very useful, and expressive.  Sadly it doesn't work yet (if ever.), and doesn't look like its going to work the way it was originally pitched (simulated light bar on the oled screen, now seems it will only use the 3 of the  4 front LEDs).  Yes, im a little pissy pants about it, but if I truly am the only person in the Gemini family that fell in love with the LED array and ledison, then so be it. :-D

LEDison emulation was an advertised feature, but doesn't appear to work at all, or properly currently.  The option is in the cosmo settings menu.

I use it the LED's every day on my Gemini to, at a distance, see which of my three mailboxes (red, green, blue) gets new e-mail. My only problem with them on the Gemini is that they're kind on sloppily implemented. They're supposed to handle 24-bit RGB, but each channel can, in reality, essentially only be full on, maybe a wee tad dimmer or completely off. And the timing isn't very tight. I fully intend and expect to use their emulated counterpart on my Cosmo, whenever it may arrive.

For my needs, just being able to have the whole OLED panel light up in one color might be enough, but since the 5-LED strip has already set the precedent, I don't see why it shouldn't be implemented. Especially with the outer display in the advertised landscape mode, drawing five filled circles (boxes would do) should be very doable.

Even if they could use just the two LEDs at either end, that would be useful.  There's one above the camera that I've never seen lit on my Cosmo, but I do recall seeing it on in a Cosmo video (can't recall which).
Maybe they can come up with something clever that uses those two at either end plus the two on the fingerprint / rocker switch, but as those two are taken over by the cover display, I don't know if the two can play nicely together.

Put it in airplane mode from android main screen and then close the device. The only way I could trigger it and see if it works (and exists at all). It should light red in that case scenario and doesn't turns off even if ext. screen goes to sleep. Puting device in airplane mode from external screen doesn't trigger it at all. I made both recent firmware upgrades (android and codi), if that matters. Must admit I did't even knew it's there... OT: I think 4 leds, in some kind of cross geometry, are definitely enough to be used smart without any help from external screen (IMHO), in some sort of high power saving mode when batt. level is under 10%, or similar. All of this is very low priority to PC at this point, actually, it sounds like something for community to handle at some point...

I love the idea, but does it work on the Cosmo?

Has anyone been able to get LEDison to do anything? I see how you can assign certain patterns to specific apps, but so far I've yet to see it do anything.
