I've been in conversation with Planet support for a month or so about just this issue. In my case I've been trying to help my brother out, as he wasn't using his Cosmo at the time they did the switch over from V15 firmware to V16 and ditched the OTA provider they'd been using (which is why you can't get any OTA updates if you are still on V15). Here is the last response they sent us. I haven't yet followed these instructions as my brother's Cosmo is with him and he wants me to help hold his hand while he goes through the business of flashing the thing. But this looks as though it should work.

There must be quite a few people caught out by this problem, which is why I was astonished I needed so much to-ing and fro-ing with Planet to get this set of instructions from them.)

If this doesn't fix the issue, we'd then definitely need you to send the device to us. Should it come to that, please summarise in simple bullet points if any extra servicing is necessary, in addition the OTAs fix.
