[Resolved] Recording phone calls

Hi,

  is there any free and preferably open source application for recording your phone calls? All I'd need it to do is save the calls to flash (or memory card). Having a 2-channel (stereo) recording with local and remote side on separate channels a bonus.

  I tried this, https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.github.axet.callrecorder/ but it only recorded my end so doesn't really work...

As far as I know, there is a "record button" on the main screen when on a call. What it records, and in what format and where it gets recorded to, I don't know...

I have tested it. The calls go to phonerecord-folder on internal storage in 3GPP audio format. However, the problem is that you have to manually start the recording for every call (the automatic recording option does not seem to be there).

Could you then use an automation app to start that recording automatically??

And one question, since you have tried it: Does it give off a "beep" when recording??

Automation app might be good idea. The weird part is that several links (google for it) claim that in Android 9, you should be able to record every call automatically (at least if using Google's phone app). I tried that one instead of the builtin version and found no difference with recording functionalities.

If you read the opening post, I tried the same thing, but could not get it to work properly. I have rooted cosmo. What settings do you use? I thought I tried most of the recording modes...Can you share your settings?

Essentially, it only records the microphone side, not what's coming in from PSTN. Yes, you can record the other party too if you e.g. use speakerphone mode, but that's not really usable. So in the recording I can hear my voice, but not the other party.

Every things is on default except 'Disable Battery Optimization' which is on...

Thanks for this! Toggled that and it started to work as expected. I wonder how much of battery drain this will cause...

One additional note. The callrecord app does not seem to work with a USB headset connected. I haven't tried with bluetooth headset yet. The Android's built-in recorder *does* work with headsets.

So "resolved" but with caveats...
