2. remove battery
3. remove power cord
4. wait 10 seconds
5. press and hold D and M keys
6. while still pressing, plug in power cord
7. while still pressing slide back cover release switch towards battery location.

I was doing this sequence, but learned by happenstance a slightly easier way:
1. remove back cover of Z
2. remove battery
3. remove power cord
4. wait 10 seconds (MAY require up to 15 -30 min sometimes)
5. slide back cover release switch towards battery location.
6. press and hold D & M keys
7. while still pressing D&M, plug in power cord
Works just the same for me but you can put the C860 down on a solid surface to press & hold the keys WITHOUT having to fumble it upside down to flip the battery switch! Getting the power cord in is also MUCH easier with the Z held down on a flat surface.
Also, if you are running & want to reboot to the Service Menu or D+B or what ever, you don\'t really need to pull the battery & reflip the switch. I just pick REBOOT from the popup menu then, right after clicking YES to confirm, hold down the necessary keys & (BANG!) my C860 boots D+M or D+B or etc, just the same as if I had done all the more complicated & cumbersome brohaha.
Try it. But, as usual, YMMV. (G)
