Ok, boys and girls,

please download the latest version 1.9.1 from

http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/

and play with it! ;-)

Please test, test, test and report any bugs, which are not in the bugtracker.

Short summary:
KO/Pi has some enhancements - and a new alarm applet version 1.9.1 is needed!
Note that the paths have changed, you maybe start with an empty calendar.
KO/Pi should load the old calendar file automatically ... but one never knows.
Please read the menu: Help - What'sNew  to know what has happenend.

Ka/Pi should be more stable and have less bugs.
Please test!
It has not yet a direct connection to old address data, Ulf is working on this.
You sgould be able to import data via the CSV import.
Please test.

KO/Pi and KA/Pi are available as Wintendo binaries as well.
Have fun testing it on Windows.

Maybe one of you is creating a CSV definition of the Outlook export to CSV?
Such a definition can now be saved and given to other users.

z.

Backup, backup,backup FIRST!!

Lost my ToDos, and config of course; could not get the config to accept my timezone (-8 PDT)
Lost all my addresses.  Have restored my complete configuration from a Sharp Backup.

I will export and save backups for KO & KA/Pi before I upgrade again, and deactivate fast load first as well.

Ouch, bit by the Alpha.

There has to be a way to import the configuration from KO/Pi!  Otherwise I have to redo all the Catagories (delete yours, add mine, and redo all the colors for my events/todo).  Ugh.

Spent quite a few hours getting all my addresses into KA/Pi;  do I really need to do that all over again?  There has to be a way to keep the data, right?

Hi slocaus,

you didn't lost anything.
A backup is not needed, because KO/Pi and KA/Pi will not write to the old configuration files or the old data basis (like the calendar file mycalendar.ics).

As I wrote:

Please read the menu: Help - What'sNew to know what has happenend.

There is explained, what to do , if you want to get your old config back.
You have just to copy the config file to the new location.

And to use the old KA/Pi address data you can configure a new resourse, which points to that old file.
Sorry, that I did forgot to write.

The old addresses should  be (home)/Applications/kaddressbook/data/kabc/std.vcf

Hope that helps.

If not, ask again ...

z.

P.S.:

There is really some documentation needed for KA/Pi.

Anybody wants to write something about it?
Like configuring resources and views and so on ...

This is very good work, I'm not really much of a PIM user, but I've installed it and removed the default Calendar and Addressbook by using the Tab manager.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/kdepimpi/
kdepimpi is an unfortunate choice of names, it makes me think I'm running KDE software for brothelkeepers... :-)

Good stuff, keep up the good work.

I downloaded source from SF and tried to compile it under OpenEmbedded. Currently I use gcc 3.3.4,  Qt/E 2.3.7, QPE from OPIE CVS (20040618).

After fixing qmake generated Makefile I go into following error:

Hi Hrw,

yes, compiling it may be not easy.
You can compile it for Qt3 (for the desktop version ) and Qt2 ( for the embedded version).
Some classes of Qt3 does not exist in Qt2.
For that reason you do need the qtcompat lib and the qtcompat lib path in your include path.
There are two different *.pro files in every directory, e.g. korganizer.pro and korganizerE.pro.

You have to make sure, that always the  *E.pro is used for makefile creation when compiling for embedded.

If you use qmake , it will choose the non E *.pro version.

Such that you get the makefiles for the desktop and Qt3, which does not include the qtcompat dir in the include path.

Look at the qtcompat dir: There you can find your missing qinputdialog.

Hope this helps,

z.

P.S.

Affter looking again at your post, I see that you have the right include path already.

Maybe there is some include file missing.

Hello all,

I am still working on the old addressbook data issue. I hope to get it done in the next couple of days.

The CSV import dialog supports already templates, but it is not enabled yet.
And there exists already a template in the KDE distribution optimized for Outlook data. We will make the template public with the functionality in one of the next releases.
(Hopefully in the next days ;-)

I like the moving agenda and preview windows on kopi and kapi.  I definitely like the non qtwindow bar on kapi (any plans for the same in kopi?).  we need all the space we can get, but you might want to make the close button into an "x" button (as opposed to the shutdown button) and move it to the right corner.  It's more intuitive that way.  It would help if the cancel button on the keyboard closed the app too.  I know, I know....I need to put it in bug tracking....

It's a good thing I still have that csv file.....

Agreed with bluedevils on menu buttons working, and X to close in upper right for consistency with all apps Zaurus.

I got everything else working by reading Menu/Help/What's New carefully and with adequate caffiene.

Still have a TZ problem.  All my apps are off by -11 hours regardless of the TZ setting.  I am -8 PDT, and have tried GMT, Local Time, +8, etc.  Nothing changes in KO/Pi.

Suggestions?  or new version?

I had similar problem. After install I set the TZ to US Central -6 and then all of my events were off. I closed the app, deleted the new mycalendar.ics, restarted it and reimported mycalendar.ics and all events were at the right time.

Hello slocaus,

I suggest to copy the original mycalendar.ics file (or a backup of it) to the correct location after checking/changing your timezone settings in Ko/PI 1.9.1.

So in order to get it work you should do:

1) Start Ko/Pi 1.9.1 and set the timezone correct.
2) Shut down KO/Pi 1.9.1
3) copy your original datebook from the previous KO/Pi version you had installed (or a backup of the file) into the correct folder that is getting used by KO/Pi 1.9.1.

KO/Pi 1.9.1 searches and opens the file   <YourHomeDir>/kdepim/apps/korganizer/mycalendar.ics
Please overwrite that file with your backup(or original file)

4) Restart Ko/Pi 1.9.1 , and check your entries.

Hi!
@ulf and all the other
CSV templates loading/saving should work in 1.9.1

@slocaus:
How to change all your appointments by a desired amount of hours is already answered in the FAQs.
Please read this.
The procedure Ulf mentioned is not sufficient.

I just see, that the path mentioned there is the old one - I have to update this.

Yes, ulf1 that is what worked.  Letting KO/Pi do the import does not get the TZ setting correct.  As you state, set TZ in KO/Pi, exit, copy mycalendar.ics over to new location and then start KO/Pi works.

I did basically the same think and copied std.vcf from the original location to the new locations for KA/Pi as well.

Only other comment I have at this time is icons; the change to KO/Pi is fine, as was the previous one.  The House/Home for KA/Pi does not work for me.  I associate people with addresses, so something else would be better, in my humble opinion.

Thanks to both ulf1 and zautrix for all the past, present, and future work!
