860 w/ Sharp ROM: Connecting via dialip
« on: June 21, 2004, 04:59:40 pm »
OK. I am running the English-converted Sharp ROM. I have an AmbiCom CF56M-EZ CF Modem. I went into Settings-]Network and set up a Dialup PPP connection (to 650dialup). The setting appear correct, but each time I dial it attempts to authenticate and then says network offline. The only option that I seem to have is device authentication. I have tried it with the box checked and unchecked, does not seem to make a difference. I set the connection up manually as the wizard was not very helpful. I went to the myzaurus website and searched on here, but have not been able to solve this one. Thanks.

Make sure the appropriate username/password combos appear in both /etc/chap-secrets and /etc/pap-secrets (unless you know which one is actually to be used of course)

Post the script from /etc/ppp/peers

pap and chap are the same. Here is the peers file:

the username and password in pap and chap seem to be correct. I am typing this from my 860. My wifi worked like a champ. Thanks.
