Stopping Suspend
« on: June 28, 2004, 11:03:54 am »
How do I stop my C860 suspending when using the cacko ROM. I use the system a lot at work (a windows only joint) to give me linux. But I also leave it sitting for long periods of time. I would like the screen to blank but I dont want it to suspend. The longest period you seem to be able to set is 30 mins. This is on battery BTW.

Go to Settings Tab->Light and Power,
and then select the amount of time before suspension.

you have different settings wether you are in battery mode or pluged in.

I hope I answered.

As I said, this screen only gives a 30 min maximum time, I want infinity.

Here's how, open up Konsole and then:

su
vi /home/zaurus/Documents/Settings/

Then use the arrow keys to navigate down the page until you come to the [Screensaver] section, find the line which looks something like Interval = 1800, changing this affects the suspend time on battery power, position the cursor over the character "1" and hit shift+r and type in 604800 and then press the cancel button. If all has gone well it should look like Interval = 604800 and then press :wq (case sensitive) to save the document and quit.

That has set your suspend timer whilst on battery power to 604800 seconds which is exactly 7 days (but we all know the battery won't last that long hehe). Be careful as this WILL run your Zaurus's battery down completely and there may be complications with trying to charge a fully discharged battery (it's recommended you switch off when you get the low battery warning so that you don't screw the battery up).

Now, if you wanted to do the same for AC power as well, you'd do all the steps as above however you would find the line Interval_AC_09 and change that to 604800 and then 2 lines underneath it Interval_AC_idx you would change to 9 so it points to the above.

Please bear in mind that if you go in to the Light and Power applet again you will probably nullify these changes you've made so try and avoid it  Good Luck
