Mailer daemon
« on: December 09, 2003, 06:08:01 pm »
I am trying to find a mailer daemon which will install on an SL-5600. The postfix-tls package doesn\'t install. I even tried to change the extension to tar.gz to open it, but that also failed.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Link to the package url?

I\'ll bet that it\'s an ar archive. Try using a desktop Linux box to un-ar it then tar.gz the resultant files.

Thanks. Just tried that, but it too failed. I also tried every other archive format, but I get the same result: \"wrong file format\" or some similar error.

I e-mailed the package maintainer last week, but have yet to receive a reply.

Oh well....

Again, thanks.

What does the utility \'file\' say it is? Have you tried downloading it again? Maybe it got corrupt.

file says it is data

I have downloaded it many times, copying it to the Zaurus using the Win transfer utility (which I try and avoid) and FTP. I used Opera on the Zaurus to download it, which then called packagemanager. I also used package manager and added his feed.

Same result. ipkg error: something went wrong.

Can you give us a link, it\'s far easier to see what\'s up if we can get the file which you\'re trying to use.

It\'s a tar.gz, I\'ve not tried to install it, but as long as you can open it (after renaming to .tar.gz) you\'ll know it\'s not corrupt. Try running ipkg with the -V (I think ...) switch set to a high number and you\'ll hopefully get some useful output to indicate where the error is occurring.

Download file
Rename the file to postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm.gz
Open with Winzip
Extract the file to postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm.ipk
Rename to postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm.ar
Open postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm.ar with Winrar
Extract postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm.ar to folder postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm
Open folder postfix-tls_2.0.15_arm
Examine data in the folder with Winzip.

Eh?

It is definitely a tar.gz file, I just opened it with Winrar by renaming it to .tar.gz.

Try renaming it to .gz and extracting the ipk, but there\'s no need to do any of the renaming to ar bit.

FINALLY got this to install via packagemanager. After one week of repeated attempts.

Go figure.

Thanks to all for the help.

so has anyone got this running?  I was able to install though it mentioned not finding c_rehash.  It also complains about not having the berkley db libs which will be hard to find.
