Intellisync and OZ 3.3.5
« Reply #15 on: December 12, 2003, 10:44:03 am »
I think its dead.  I was so happy to have my Zaurus sync working, that I went into packages, and saw that the feed now has an \"updated filter\".  Assuming I knew what this meant, I selected all the items, hit apply changes, ignored the confirmation, and proceeded to remove 8 critical packages from the system, including libc.

So I thought, what the heck, reflash.  I reflashed it, powered it on, and forgot about it overnight.  Came back this morning to a very warm Zaurus, instructing me to tap anywhere to begin.  No taps worked, nothing worked.  Recycled the power, and still stuck with an unresponsive \"tap anywhere\" to begin.  Ok, no problem.  Hard reset, and it won\'t get past the OpenZaurus fb logo and \"booting...\".   Uh-oh.  Tried a re-flash, only green LED, not both showing up.  Tried other CF cards, only green LED.  Now I can\'t get any response from the unit, aside from that green LED staring me in the eyes.

Might have to spend some more $$, dunno.

including libc

In that case you are stuck and will have to reflash.

Who is quoted with saying \"insanity is trying the same thing over and over, in the hopes that you will receive a different outcome\"?  Well, my insanity paid off.  Four or five flash attempts later, and with only a green LED while flashing, the system awoke, configured its new packages, and gave me a fresh OZ!

On my way again....

Which USB drivers should I use ? I have changed from Tkcrom to OZ 3.3.5. I removed intellisync from cd 3.13 cd and installed the one proviced from sharp.co.uk. But What about the usb driver ? I do not get my zaurus and Pc to see each other. Could some one point me to the right usb driver ?

My pc IP is 192.168.0.2, and I have gone to the security app and I have configured any ip to access the zaurus. I have changed on the network app the IP from the zaurus to 192.168.0.201 (is this needed ) which gateway should I put (the one that my pc uses or my pc ip )

Please help me

Edited: Zaurus connection does not show as net interface. But on the zaurus I see that Ethernet (usbd0) is up.

I have a similar problem as yakito above.  Maybe yakito is using DHCP with Win2k as i am.

I\'ve gotten the Z to sync at home with win2k using a static IP, then just adding another IP for the Z to talk to.  With DHCP that\'s not possible.

So i\'m wondering...Intellisync adds a network device when installed in Win9x, but doesn\'t seem to in Win2k(XP?).  Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance.

Help!  I just got OZ 3.3.5 in a state I like except for sync\'ing.  I have tried to sync on both
Win XP and Win 98 to no avail.  Can someone point me to some diagnostic messages that
should help me out?   Currently, I\'m stuck getting the \"Put the Zaurus on the Docking Station
, and click [OK]\" message.  I press \"OK\" and then press the \"Sync\" button on the cradle.
the \"Put the Zaurus on the Docking Station, and click [OK]\" window freezes for 20 secs and
then comes active again and no luck - no sync\'ing

Please help!  This would make my life much better.

Guest,
The problem most likely is due to hotplug...it seems that Win doesn\'t recognize the device with the latest hotplug.  Here\'s how you can tell:
Check the device manager to see if you have an SLNdis network adapter...if not...then there\'s no chance of syncing.

Uninstall hotplug (ipkg remove hotplug), grab hotplug from the open zaurus 3.2 feed, and install it.  before trying to sync, remove all zaurus software from your windows computer, then reinstall using the intellisync from your CD....NOT the latest intellisync software from the web.

once you stick your Z in the cradle, you should finally get the ndis network adapter...if not i may have another workaround...

<Sigh> I should have read this before flashing. Couldn\'t get USB to work with 3.3.5, so flashed to 3.2. Still no joy. I\'ve gone back to the SHARP Rom (3.13) for the time being.......

I followed this thread and managed to get syncing working fine with XP and 3.3.5

mickeyl - I am keen to know more about opiemail3 you mention as one of the only things holding me back staying with OZ is the need for SMTP authentication for mail sending.

Any update on the availability?

many thanks

Is there a way to use Intellisync 3.2E (that comes with the Sharp 3.10 ROM) with OZ 3.3.5 and Opie 1.0.2? I\'ve tried just about everything I can think of including the Bahia USB Network driver.

OpieMail3 is in the ipaq 5th toe feed (http://opie.handhelds.org/feed/ipaq/5thtoe) and perhaps (I\'m not sure, I\'m not the OpenZaurus packager anymore) in the unstable zaurus feed. It will be the default e-mail client of Opie 1.2 - all other will be moved to unsupported.
