Okay, doesn't look like Sharp want's us to wireless sync.  There may be a third party program that will allow it though.  Sorry.

hi,

thanks a lot for trying. here is what i have done (and how far i got) the pc i used is an ibm thinkpad x31 running windows XP:

1. the zaurus and thinkpad have a peer to peer link established with zaurus IP set to 192.168.1.31 and pc IP assigned to 192.168.1.41. i can ssh etc from pc to zaurus so the link is good.

2. connected the 6000L via the docking station. once the connection was established, i went into zaurus manager on the PC and changed the connection to "USB - TCP/IP Advanced" and the Host name to zaurus and IP address to 192. 168.1.31

3. on the zaurus side i open the pc link application and change the  hostname to zaurus and the USB IP to 192.168.1.31.

with these settings, when i initiate a sync from the pc side, i do get the zaurus screen change to "Communicating...." but  every 2 sec i get a "Communication Aborted" on the zaurus screen and after aboout 10 such message the PC side aborts too.

i have tried various other combinations of IP addresses in the zaurus manager  and the pc link side and  in all cases (except with IP address as above) the connection doesnt even get established.

cheers,

/bazmi.

I have wireless synching working with the 6000.

I could only get it to work if I put my zauras at 192.168.129.201 and the pc has the ip 192.168.129.1.    These are the default settings.   Doesn't appear to work with any other settings, don't know why.   THis is a home  so I have the ability to put whatever network I want here.

You also have to make sure usbd0 is not up or it won't work.

 thanks a lot!!!

i have the wireless sync working now, thanks to you. even though i have to switch off the office network to get the sync working, this less than ideal solution is still a lot better than carrying that huge docking station around.

cheers,

Care to write a HOWTO on getting this to work?

If you can do this, please write it with the newbie as the target audience.

If you prefer, and help me through it, I will write one up.

I have a SL-5500 working wirelessly(wi-fi) fine for all the applications except when I try to sync FROM the Z to PC it says "connection aborted". Synching wirelessly from PC to Z works fine! I am using sharp 3.1 ROM and I guess qtsamba software is hardcoded to use usb interface instead of an IP address.

Is there any other tool/software available to be able to synch wirelessly from Z to PC?

Thanks a lot in advance for any guidance.
