KDE-Pim/Pi 1.9.4 Release

holck, your configuration looks like mine, but I don't have this problem, even though I don't have libqpepim.so.1 either. Are you using version 1.9.5a of KDE-Pim? If not, try backing up your data, uninstalling everything to do with KDE-Pim that is an earlier version, and upgrading to 1.9.5a (except for the alarm applet, which should be 1.9.4).

Even if you think that you are using 1.9.5a, you may have forgotten to upgrade one of the packages. I suggest that you double-check carefully.
Pakman: thank you for your suggestion. I tried this, removed all KDE-Pim ipk's, and installed version 1.9.5b - first kmicrokdelibs and then kdaddressbook - but the problem is still there. I can start KAPI from the command line and it seems to be working OK, but when I try to import my Qtopia calendar, I get these messages:

Code: [Select]
QLibrary open failed!: /home/QTPalmtop/lib/libmicrokabc_qtopia.so, libqpepim.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory (this message appears 4 times)
KLibrary: The library microkabc_qtopia does not offer an init_microkabc_qtopia function
KRES::factory::resource(): Factory creation failed for library microkabc_qtopia

If the missing libqpepim.so.1 is not the problem, I have no clue at all.

/Jesper

First of all, thanks very much for an excellent PIM suite. I installed it last friday intending to play with it for a while, but I was so impressed I've already moved all my data to KO/Pi and switched the default suite to KDE-Pim on my C860! (mainly because I know I can switch back thanks for the excellent DTM Sync!)

I have a few questions/observations on 1.95b which perhaps someone could comment on?

Firstly, I've noticed KO/Pi has some rather odd memory usage. It seems to grow over time, then (occasionally) randomly shrink later. I'd say it was a memory leak except sometimes - and without me noticing a trigger - it goes back somewhat. Since KO/Pi is taking up rather a lot of memory to start with, the growth can be a bit alarming (especially since I've configured it to load-on-start, so it neverquits...)

Secondly, and I can't help but think this must be a bug, if I try to re-open closed TO-DOs (especially those I've synced in from DTM), I can reliably crash KO/Pi. Simple test:
  • Create a TODO
  • On any view, mark the TODO as closed
  • On any view, re-click the TODO's status button to un-mark as closed
  • If that didn't crash KO/Pi, then re-clicking the TODO to mark as closed will definitely do it!
...To be fair, I only tried this after syncing TODOs with DTM, so I wonder if there's something odd about the data being imported?

Thirdly, the "Menu" hardware button (next to OK/CANCEL on my C860) doesn't jump to the menu. It jumps to the toolbar. There is no way (that I can see) of getting to the menus using the keyboard.

Fourthly, what is a "Marcus Bains line" and why would I want one?

Lastly, it would be nice if there was some way to cause "Exit and Save" to really exit if "fast-load" has been set. At the moment, this just closes the window, but KO/Pi stays resident. I'm actually using my TODO bug above to implement this feature, since it's the only way I've found to make any config changes that require a restart work!!!

Once again, thanks for a great suite!

I didn't see your earlier message, and I didn't realise that you were trying to import tkcCalendar data. I am not sure that this can work directly. Reading between the lines on the page about tkcCalendar (http://www.thekompany.com/embedded/tkccalendar/), I suspect that while tkcCalendar is able to read the Sharp DTM data fine, it may write its data out in the DTM format, but in a way that does not preserve full compatability with the Sharp apps (perhaps with additional fields), which may be why they are still having problems with syncing tkcCalendar data. You could check this by running the Sharp to-do and calendar programs, and see if they can read your current calendar data, but back up the data first (i.e. make copies of the files in /homes/zaurus/Applications/dtm, and copy them back if anything gets screwed up). I don't know if you still have the IPK for the tkcROM that you need for this (sharp-pims_1.5.4-sl-c7x0_arm.ipk) - I could make it available to you if not.

If you can get your data into M$-Outlook somehow, you could import tha data from Outlook into KO/Pi running on Windows, and import the calendar file back into KO/Pi on the Z.

You could also try using zdbat from the linzau tool set . Most of these pages are in Japanese, but it is possible to infer what zdbat does from the smattering of English on the zdbat web page. If you install zdbat and run it from the command line, it gives some help in English. With the -r option (if I remember correctly) it will export DTM data into comma-separated fields to standard output, which you might be able to process into a form that ko/pi will import. If you are proficient in a suitable language like Perl, Python or Ruby, it would help.

Good luck,
P.

It was receiving (beaming in) that I was referring to.
Hi Chaos,
you can receive appointments or addresses into Kopi/Kapi via IR with a little trick.
When you received the item and are prompted to add to calendar or addressbook, just don't. Instead exit by tapping the OK-Button in the upper right corner, which leaves you with a fine file in /home/tmp/obex to be imported in Kapi or Kopi through their file menu.

Hi,

I was wondering (since I finally am able to use the USB networking) if it is possible to start the the sync through a command line. This way it would be possible to just place the zaurus in my cradle to sync my calendar stuff.

Thanks,
One happy zaurus user

Hello Jesper,

Quote
KLibrary: The library microkabc_qtopia does not offer an init_microkabc_qtopia function

This tells me that the kernel can not dynamically load libmicrokabc_qtopia.so because of a wrong/incomplete initializationroutine.

My guess is that you are still using an older "incompatible libmicrokabc_qtopia.so lib
that the uninstall/install process did not overwrite with the newest version which resides in the kmicrokdelibs package.

Did you check after uninstalling the pim suite that there is no libmicrokabc_qtopia.so lib left on your system?

Hmm, nice to know. Unfortunately that's not as convenient as fully automatic...
Sorry. I just don't have the time...

Thank you for the suggestions! I tried following Ulf's advice and unstalled all kde pim packages, and checked that this also erased libmicrokabc_qtopia files and links in the /home/QtPalmtop/lib directory. Installing kmicrodelibs gave a message like "This package seems to depend on other packages, please install them too", but added the libmicrokabc* files to /home/QtPalmtop/lib . I installed KAPI once more, but the problem is still there - same error messages as before, when I try to import the Qtopia addressbook.

I have also tried to install kmicrokdelibs with ipkg from the command line, hoping for some warnings or error messages, but no problems showed up. So, so far, no luck.

As your error message says:

QLibrary open failed!: /home/QTPalmtop/lib/libmicrokabc_qtopia.so, libqpepim.so.1: cannot load shared

You need libqpepim.so.1 to use the qtopia import.

New Sharp Roms (> 3.1.0) does not habe this lib.
You have to copy it from an old Sharp Rom ( 2.3.8)

zautrix: I'm having the same problem.  I installed libqpepim.so.1 into /home/QtPalmtop/lib and now it's failing on a different lib: libqtopia

Here's thw output:
Code: [Select]
QLibrary open failed!: /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libmicrokabc_qtopia.so, libqtopia.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
QLibrary open failed!: /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libmicrokabc_qtopia.so, libqtopia.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory

QLibrary open failed!: /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libmicrokabc_qtopia.so, libqtopia.so.1: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
KLibrary: The library microkabc_qtopia does not offer an init_microkabc_qtopia function
KRES::Factory::resource(): Factory creation failed for library microkabc_qtopia

I'm running tkcROM 2.51 on a c860.

Any ideas?

Thanks once again for all your awesome work (and ulf too)!

I installed ka/pi on a pdaxrom RC/3 mahine, and have also installed all the required libs to get the application started.  However, it still complains on startup.  There are many resource, config files, and libraries missing (which i remember was not the case when i installed ka/pi on a cacko rom a few weeks ago).

I get the following error messages:

KLibLoader::library could not find library libmicrokabc_opie.so
KLibLoader::library could not find library libmicrokabc_qtopia.so
KLibLoader::library could not find library libmicrokabc_sharpdtm.so
KLibLoader::library could not find library libmicrokabc_file.so

The resource files missing are:

KRES::Factory::resource(): Fcatory creation failed for library microkabc_file No resource available!!!

KConfig: could not open file /home/root/kdepim/config/kaddressrc
KConfig: could not open file /home/root/kdepim/config/kabcrc

The application starts fine in spite of so many warnings, but due to the missing 'resource file' I cannot import contacts or create them.  For starters, could anyone supply me the config files above?  (By the way, I have checked my disk space, and I have ample room.)

Thanks.

Sriram

zautrix: FOLLOWUP: I found libqtopia.so.1.6.2 on your site and copied it to /home/QtPalmtop/lib.  I then created a symlink to it (in the same directory) called libqtopia.so.1

Now I get the following error:
Code: [Select]
ResourceQtopia::doOpen(): /home/root/Applications/addressbook/addressbook.xml kapi: error while loading shared libraries: /home/QtPalmtop/lib/libqpepim.so.1: undefined symbol: lockFile__6GlobalR5QFilei
Any ideas?

Thanks,

Where did you get the version of KA/Pi for the pdaXrom?

The versions we are providing precompiled are not useable on pdaXrom.
And we cannot answer any question about problems running applications o pdaXrom, sorry.

i just downloaded the package from sourceforge AND IT WORKS.  with the exception that the resource files did not get copied over.  can you please send them to me?  i know you do not support this, but sending the resource files shouldn't be such a problem if it is all that is necessary to use a great application.
thanks.
