Ok, so as I'm making the new ZSI, I was wondering if everyone is ok with the ZSI name or if we should maybe make a new one?

zsi.org is taken.  I'm assuming we can still get zaurussoftwareindex.org, but that's rather long.  Any other ideas for a name/domain?

Is it intended entirely just for Zaurii or for other embedded linux device owners to use as a central place to find apps that will run on their devices as well?

If the former, then something with Zaurus in the title makes sense.
If the latter, then something more generic would make more sense.

Some ideas:

zaurusversiontracker.org (could conflict with versiontracker.com and is a little long)
zaurus-software.org (.net?)
z-soft.org or .net
SL5500G, C860, C3100, WLAN, RTM8000, Powerbook G4, and others...

Following up on my earlier post, I definitely think it should be more generic in name, not mentioning Zaurus at all, and concentrate on being the future repository of all linux embedded apps, be they for the Zaurus, Yopy, etc and all the hopefully future devices to come, which might not have Zaurus branding, as they probably won't be from Sharp.

A link from the ZUG to it, should be enough to get the Zaurus users to go there, regardless of the name of it.

It should be more general - OpenZaurus 3.5.1 is released, Familiar 0.8 will be released, OpenSimpad 0.9 etc.. - all builded using OpenEmbedded so packages nearly same (some have misc changes for MACHINE).

Creating "Zaurus only" site can 'kill' it in some time - making it more general (with info which distro has it, for which machine it is etc) will get more users to it.

LHE (Linux handheld Embedded) LHE.org Since linux is the core platform and it's targeted primarily for handheld devices,Simpad included, and the odvious it's embedded. One more thought is LEHA short for Linux Embedded Handheld Applications.

I would go for something like the LHE idea then set up common and machine specific feeds.

If it was embeddedapps then you could also offer other software for different embedded devices on the site. I dont know wether he wants to do a linux only site, or a zaurus only site, but embeddedapps is the most generic term i can think of lol.

Ok, so what you guys are proposing is to have a site that's much more than just a ZSI.  You want a site that's a repository for all things embedded?

That's interesting, and definately possible.  Would I need to ask what kind of PDA a certain software is made for than when you enter it into the DB, or does that not matter as long as you're using the same os?

How about ZVault or ZaurusVault?
