Stick it in one of the scripts in the rcX.d init system is what he means.

I've not done it yet, but I may just add it to the start of the /etc/init.d/opie script (which starts opie).

Am I right in thinking that users using 'shutdown -h' will have to pull the battery anyway ?

I though that the last thing that this did was to do a CPU halt and since the script doesn't do a CPU powerdown as it would with APM on a desktop machine the unit will be suspended with the CPU in the halt state. Hence no life when you hit the resume button.

Is this right ? That seems to be the way on other handheld linux platforms (Familiar etc.).

For me, even a shutdown needed a battery pull to get it back.  However the "power_key_off" fix worked fine.

I've been battling to really get GPE running in a stable fashion on my C860 (And actually have yet to get an internet browser to work reliably under OZ3.5.1). In the end I just flashed on pdaXrom, and have all of the apps you describe working without any problems (except for hancom which I've yet to use) and I'm pretty happy. On a side note, I added the 3.5.1 feed to my pdaXrom ipkg, and updated _some_ of the pdaXrom stuff to 3.5.1 level without anything bad happening (Don't try update matchbox, though I havn't found out exactly why this didn't work yet ;-).

So what I'm saying is maybe in an interm, flash on pdaXrom. I'd be very happy if there was a way to configure Openembedded to create files for pdaXrom (and I'm sure there is, still downloading OE now).

Did you update libc? Or is the latest pdaXrom using a later version than it did before?

Updated Libc.

Actually, it was interesting. I first put all the feeds, including 3.5.1 and after first updating ipkg to its binary form, performed an ipkg upgrade. It actually did a pretty good job apart from matchbox suddenly stopping working because of no fonts, something I'm sure is fixable (But I have no time at the moment).
However, just by being careful in the command line and update a few things, including libc, doesn't seem to break anything I use.

This is all with RC4. No idea about RC5 yet. (Just installed it).
