mod/xm/s3m tracker for the Z?
« Reply #15 on: March 09, 2005, 04:19:12 am »
dont know if your still around Raduga, but it seems the only solution currently for me doing audio is by  using frodo the c64 emulator and loading a tracker into it.
i must also say it works rather well
i havent actually been able to figure out how to use it but i know it makes sound because some of the d64 soundtracking roms i tried, pumped some really loud cheesy music into my head. so as soon as i can figure out the usage and how & where to put the samples and what format i should be making tunes on the Z in no time

but figuring out the usage, formats, keys of the c64 is my main obstacle ATM until im making music
btw i made a howto for frodo on this page:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...859&#entry69859
these pages are scattered all over the forum so when i go to look i just use the search function and type tracker

I hope nobody minds if I bring a 1 year old topic back up, but I didn't see this player/tracker mentioned.
It's multi-platform, including Linux. It's called PsyTexx.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"PsyTexx is the cross-platform music tracker based on the XM (FastTracker eXtended Module) format. Currently it's available for a following OS: Windows, Linux (X11 and text console) and PalmOS."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found this program when looking for a MOD XM s3m player for my Palm. It doesn't play s3m files though. I'm pretty sure it plays only XM and MOD files. The interface is tiny on a 320x320 Palm, but probably look pretty good on a 640x480 screen. It plays these modules on my Palm with no problems, and they sound really good. There is also some extra skins for it. It can be found here:
http://www.warmplace.ru/soft/psytexx2/
Manual:
http://www.warmplace.ru/docs/psytexx2/

I have absolutely no Linux experiance, but on the manual page are some instructions for compiling this for Linux.

Is there anyone that can use this on a Zaurus?
I've enclosed a pic of the interface.

Jon

I would use a program like this. I've spent time with Fruity Loops on the PC and have been having problems finding comparable applications for Linux. Having it on the Zaurus would be even better.

jeez its been awhile.

strange thing is, psytexx & milky tracker is the exact reason i'm here.

psytexx seems like it would work but the fact that the zaurus sdk requires gcc 2.95
an psytexx uses 3.5sumthin is the problem.
i wish i knew more about this. i was about to start to setup a crosscompiler to compile a binary of psytexx but i have to figure out if its not just another big waste of time.

i must have spent a few weeks worth of hours trying everything i could think of to get a tracker working good on the zaurus. i had multiple c64 trackers running but everytime the key mapping of either the tracker or frodo(c64 emu) was wrong. i had soundtracker running but the gui is way to big to be usable.

I'm using the untranslated page and an Amikai translated page.
The untranslated page will allow you to download the files without corruption/errors, ect.
http://www.geocities.jp/uirozaurus/mt2_multi.html

qshdlg and qtkdlg are only links to a wiki. (Where are these files?)

Using Amikai translator shows below dependencies. (Is dependencies the right word here?)
http://infoseek.amikai.com/amiweb/browser....s&c_id=infoseek
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
for introducing MT2 -- first -- It is necessary to install timidity, timidity-patch, qshdlg, qtkdlg, mml2mid, gawk, nkf, and madplay.
Please refer to the following and installation.
timidity
It bites and is the page of きさん.
There are ipkg for Zaurus and fixed-point arithmetic-ized timidity development record.
timidity-patch
Mr. ogapee's page (Studio O.G.A)
There is explanation of patch installation for Zaurus.
qshdlg
qtkdlg
Mr. yakty's LinuZau ToolBox Wiki
It is the entrance of the QSHDLG development page which GUI-izes a shell script.
mml2mid
Mr. TAKA's homepage TAKA Mr. newcomer mouth
There is explanation of ipkg for Zaurus and timidity installation.
Formal page
There is a manual etc. on the page of the head family.
gawk
It is required for reading of data etc.
nkf
Mr. Tsukamoto's page It is alike and there is a package.
This is required at a character code conversion program to read a manual.
madplay
Homepage
This is required to perform .mp3.
qpe-embeddedkonsole-ja
Homepage
This is required to carry out a trace performance.
qtopia-brightnessapplet
Homepage
This is required for screen OFF. (At the time of continuation reproduction for power saving)
qpe-suspendapplet
Homepage
This is required for the suspension non-effect. (For continuation reproduction)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not going to try this one yet. I just re-flashed my Z because of an unrelated error.
There are 8 dependencies listed,
and that's not counting "qtopia-brightnessapplet" and "qpe-suspendapplet", which totals up to 10 dependencies.
This seems like a lot of "weight" to enable me to play some *.MOD and *.XM files
That's all I need a tracker for. I'd like to play my modules on my Z.

The site listed above has a dead link to timidity-patch_1.0.1-sd_arm.ipk

"timidity-patch_1.0.1-sd_arm.ipk" is 15mb
http://ogapee.at.infoseek.co.jp/zaurus/

This file is too big to use on my C3100
