Can't see CF card
« on: October 21, 2004, 02:08:55 pm »
I just installed the Cacko ROM (the new beta with kernel 2.4.18) and now my SL-5000d can't see the CF card. That is, I get an icon in the taskbar when I insert it, and I can eject it, but in File Manager (or in a shell) it's always Not Available. I've tried several CF cards that were working when I was running OZ 3.5.1 or the stock Sharp ROM 1.3a. Any ideas?

Post output of 'mount' (as root).

Try 'mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/cf' see what happens.

I have similar problem. I have cacko ROM on SL-C860 and use 1GB CF card (sandisk). I needed to use my card on windows XP comp with card reader  and it worked fine but now after putting it back to the Z it doesn't work.
Z detects there is new CF card but doesn't mount it automaticaly. After mounting it manually from /dev/hda (not hda1!) card is read-only.

My other 8 MB CF card morks normallny and get's mounted as it should, that means /dev/hda1 to  /mnt/cf, so there is probably nothing wrong with the slot.

Both CF cards work in my camera or card reader without problem. Once while copying files from comp to CF I took the card out while transfer was not finished and lost some files, but I have no idea if that's the cause.

Help would be appreciated.

looks as if XP somehow spoiled your partition[table|ing]
I had the same problem after having had to format the card under XP and it turned out, that it was formatted as "floppy", i.E. witout any partitioning.
just try fdisking - making new partitions (don't forget to umount before)
and all should be well.
