Well if you\'ve downloaded one of the recent (released within the last 2 weeks) versions of the X11 ROM it autodetects the 860 properly. This is the install procedure:
1. copy the 3-4 (the 4th is actually a readme) files to the base folder of the CF card (for example straight to /mnt/cf/ or /mnt/card/ if you want to use a SD card)
2. reboot your C860 (leaving the card in), when it shows the sharp bootup screen remove the AC power, unlock the battery and remove that too.
3. Wait 5 seconds then angle the C860 to an L shape (this makes it easier to press the corresponding buttons) and rest it on it\'s side on your desk (with the CF slot facing upwards). Then hold down the OK key on the main keyboard with your left hand index finger and put your thumb on the same hand under the unit to help keep it pressed down and the unit steady. Then with your right hand insert the battery and flick the battery lock switch without putting the battery cover on, then press the power button. This will bring up the flashing menu.
4. Attach AC power and choose the 4th option in the low resolution menu, then choose which card you wish to flash from (it\'ll most likely be CF) and then select Yes on the next menu (it\'ll be the button on the left)
5. The Zaurus will reboot and boot from the CF card (this is how it flashes). After a minute or so you\'ll get a nice blue text menu system. Choose the partition menu first and when it asks for how big to make the partition type in 25 (as in 25 MB, it\'s all you need for this ROM, it also gives you a nice 96MB storage area for your files) and follow the instructions through. When you\'ve done that and you\'re back at the main menu choose the option to flash the ROM.
5. It\'ll start flashing as usual, when it finishes it may or may not ask to format the internal RAM, if you get the option to do so say yes, if not you need to do it from the main menu.
6. When you\'ve done that select the reboot option. As soon as the screen goes blank as it starts to reboot flick the battery switch back to OPEN, remove the AC power and the battery for 5 seconds, then assemble the unit back together normally.
7. When you\'ve done that just power it up normally. You\'ll get a calibration screen when you first boot up, complete that and then you\'ll come to a X11-style login prompt (graphical). Username is root and the password is blank (so just hit enter twice when you\'ve typed in root)..
Thats it! If you have any more questions please check out the X11 section of the FAQ on this site. Good luck
